My local indoor clay track is mostly built around stock 2wd buggy. My Associated B7D makes it around pretty well with a stock 21.5t motor. My ET410.2 is running a Hobbywing 4300kv motor. I do like how much raw power it has, but it is way overpowered for my track. At this point I would like to just put the appropriate motor in it.

I am considering these two options

Hobbywing Xerun V10 G4R Competition Stock Brushless Motor (13.5T) (ROAR)

Hobbywing Xerun SCT 3652SD G2 Sensored Brushless Motor (3800kV) (w/5mm shaft)

You can do either. The 13.5 G4R max kv with no load is 4100 if I remember correctly. You can go with the 3652 3800kv if you want a stronger rotor. You would need a 5mm bore pinion though. Me personally I would just keep your current 4300 and just tune down the throttle in the radio.

At my local clay track, the size is about 90 ft long and 50ft wide. I seen people whipping 5.5 to 5 turn motors in their mini truggies. Super fast down that straight and sweeper. At my old local carpet track one of my buddies was running a 6.5 and it was perfect.

I might have to play with my radio some more. I tried setting the throttle end point but I don't think it had much effect.

I have the same setup in my SCT410.3 and it it is perfect for that rig. I kind of drift it around the corners by hitting the brake and whipping the rear end.

Like DavidB1126 said, can't you turn down your motor rate in your radio? Also are you able to turn down your punch in your esc? HW use frequency, which you would make higher to soften it. And Tekin has throttle profile and torque settings you can adjust.

Yes. In my slash and rustler (2wd) I run both HW sensorless 4000kv motors. Both cars are way to powerful for my local track. I turn down the throttle EPA in my radio down to around 50-70 percent, and add some throttle expo if needed. Also if you ever go to a bigger or more open track you can turn up the throttle. Double uses.

I will give all of this a try and let you know how it goes. I don't mind putting a different motor in it either. I would just use the 4300kv motor in a different project. I don't know if it's the OCD in me or what, but I don't want to have to cut my throttle in half to make it work. This track is the only place I will ever run the truggy.

I ran a 13.5t Tekin combo in my eb410.2 last winter on a pretty small indoor carpet track. I was practically wide open the entire time… swapped over to a 6.5t xerun combo and it was perfect. Had more than enough for the straights and had enough oomph to dig myself out of the hole.

Unless you’re restricted to a 13.5t, I’d definitely go with at least a 6.5t motor. Buddy of mine ran a 5.5t Xerun in his ET410 with good luck.

I just realized all my 32p (.08 mod) pinion gears are for a 5mm shaft. This motor has a 3.17mm shaft. I can't seem to find a 16t pinion that has a 3.17mm bore. I found some protec pinion with a 5mm bore that come with a reduction sleeve. Any suggestions?

I know everyone says mod .8 and 32p are the same pitch, but they're really not. Very close, but I try to stick with one or the other on both gears.

Robinson Racing has 1/8" bore 32p pinions.

The funny thing about MOD 0.8 vs. 32P pinion gears in this case... Tekno only offers MOD 0.8 and MOD1 pinion gears when their 410 manuals (not the 1/8 scale based SCTs) say 32P pinion gear is needed.

I find it interesting that they don't seem to sell any pinion with a 3.17mm bore or any 48p pinions even though they make a 1/10 truggy that can use a turn motor and a buggy that uses 48p.
