People with TM 323's I have a few ?s

The tm323 is like any other nitro engine.

Do a proper break in, do your after run properly, keep the air filter clean, use quality fuel, and warm the engine up before doing high speed runs and your tm323 will last a long time.

I've seen tm323's die within 5 tanks and I've seen them still running gallon after gallon.

The differences in engine life are directly related to user maintenance.

The only thing I have to say about a new head for the RB is that it may not be a necessary thing to have to upgrade as the RB 323 runs fairly cool and holds temps well. Nice looking head, though. Were you experiencing high heads temps?

Whats the Low Speed Needle Factory settings

the instruction sheet gives you the Main needle (5 turns from closed) and the idle needle(6 turns from closed) whats the low speed needle i need to go out and test this bad boy but want my car set to factory to start of with...i have moved the low speed needle already :opps:

Cool, Mikee. I mainly just wondered if you had overheating issues. Had is sweet looking.

temp range

what temp range should i be running this engine at I'm still picking up the basics guys and I'm very paranoid of blowing what would be my second engine in so many weeks. what temp range should i be running in and does it apply to breaing in th engine aswell

On break in you should see temps in the very low 200's, maybe for the first tank even about 190 (fahrenheit). That is too low, so make sure the temps are rising from that point onward. If they stay low, that is bad. Lean the HSN ever so slightly then and see if the temps go up on the next tank. In order to break it in, though, you need to keep it up above 200 and preferably about 220-230. When tuned properly after break in the engine should hit 240-260 consistently. Anything higher and you are too lean or have an air leak. This RB likes to run medium revs and medium heat. It is a workhorse.

perfect info thanks again revorancher,

another newbie question... do you have to reset your needles back to factory setting after every run then retune when you go out again? is this called for?

NOOO!!!! Once you are set for best operation, leave the needles. One tip is to break in and tune for the weather you have the most of in the UK. In other words, if you plan to mostly run in dry, 60F weather, then try to break it in on a such a day. Once you are set for that type of condition, it is usually a matter of moving the HSN about an 1/8th one way or the other to adjust for the weather changes.

For example, in So. California, our weather is dry, and our average is about 70F to 80F in the summer, and around here summer can last 9 months. So, I would as a beginner do my break in on a 70F day. If the weather got down to 50F or so, then I would just make and adjustment from there, noting what I did so the next time it is 70F I could just move it back to the original 70F setting and be close enough to be able to run right.

revo rancher thanks allot man thats cleared up allot for me this uk weather is getting me down it is absolutely freezing these days and i want to break in this engine. I've heard less rain and slightly warmer temps are due for this weekend so fingers are crossed

I'd suggest not breaking it in until outside temps are above 50F (10C) or you will risk damaging it.

good point you have there mate i have to fight the temptation the weather report reckons maybe 5C on saturday that will be the warmest this week :(

carb ?s

should the carb be able to open completely on full throttle setting up the linkage arm to the servo and i can't get the carb to open completely I'm left with at least 2mm in the carb showing...if it should be completely open what more can i do this is the furthest it goes

Turn the carb clockwise a little bit. This slides the carb lever out in the end of the slider/pivot thing so it gets more throw. I had to do that on my 2.5R because of the same thing. Now I had to turn my EPA on my radio down so it wouldn't go too far.

When you buy the engine and pipe package does it include an engine mount?I plan on buying it from Ace..

Thanks,
Mark

It includes everything you need to get it running that same day. Took me 45 minutes to get it in and adjusted.
