So, I'm finally planning to paint this Corvair body for my TRX4 that I've had laying around for a while now. It's a blank canvas, so of course it's taken me forever to figure out what to do with it. Plus, it's probably been a decade and a half since I've painted a Lexan body. Hopefully, I've gotten wiser with age (though I doubt it
).
I plan to paint it both inside and out.
Current idea (using Tamiya PS paint):
- Copper for the inside
- Cobalt green OR Skye Blue exterior
- attempt of a black topographic design down each side and on the hood. Debating on having an orange show through on this.
- I'm still noodling what to do with the back (of anything)
I sketched up a concept drawing sans color (cuz I just didn't get to the color part today)
I am open to any and all suggestions on tips tricks (e.g., prep considerations) for painting lexan!
Also, I'll need help from you fine folks on light buckets or something that I can mount into this body. Part of the allure of the Corvair is the unique headlights and taillights, so I just have to get those working. I did pick up headlight/taillight lens covers that I hope will work. I'm wondering if I can tie into the TRX4 light controller? (the one that mounts to the driver door).
It'll take me a little bit to get it painted, I'm hoping to start it this weekend
If this works out like I have it in my head, it should be pretty cool!
