Painting the JConcepts Corvair

They work well but are better if you have a lense or cover over the exposed LED bulb. Usually they have a nut to secure them in place on the back side, but in this instance I didn't have enough room to get the nut on the threads. I still use hot glue to secure the wiring.

Awesome, that exactly what I was wondering about with the bulb, was how to protect it. I may pick up some of the LEDs @Chubaka found on eBay, then hot glue like crazy.

All these LEDs have ends that go into the receiver, but I just don't have any room left to plug into mine. They're such tiny wires, I don't know if I can solder ends on that plug into the Traxxas Light Distribution Block.

So many things to figure out 😆

Got my paint today for this rig. Found a 4-in-2 wiring harness. So if all goes to plan I can get the 3rd party lights to plug into that, then plug into a second distribution block for the Corvair. 🤞

The other part I'm noodling, is mounting it to the TRX4. I don't want to use pins. So I'm thinking I'll mount magnets or something. Likely modify the stock body mount posts.
I'm running these 3D printed magnetic mounts on my Sport and love them. They hold way stronger than any other magnet solution I've attempted on any of my 1:10s in the past. Even if you do not have a printer, it would be pretty easy to recreate, just use the same size magnets for holding strength:

Thanks! Yes. That exactly what I was thinking. Maybe I can get lucky and someone is selling that style of magnet hold on Etsy or something 😊

Update, all the LEDs/light buckets arrived! I took @CertifiedMike's advice and waited on any painting until I got all the hardware. Next step I'll play with how best to mount these lights and if I need to drill holes in the body. With any luck, paint this weekend!

Nice!!! I can't wait to see it now!!! 😁

That body is AWESOME! 😍 Not scared anymore, huh? 👍😎🤣
I had a beer and just went for it. 😄🤣
I figured I could "craft" my way out of any issues later.
Next I think is getting the light buckets together and hot gluing them in.
