I just bought the jeep body from hpi and I was painted it. I was not sure if I should go with blue or red for the main color .we someone I went with candy red but I can see through the body not just a little, a lot. So I was wondering if anyone else has ran into the problem before and how did the fix it. Yes I realize you back with another color but I tried black and all you saw was black. Would it help if I spayed a different red on there? please any post can help

Candy colors are more transparent then solid paints. You should add one or two more coats, then back it with silver.
You'll need to try it on a scrap piece to see if one or two more coats are needed, then try silver, white or red backing to see which one you like better. I wouldn't recommend black.

Rolex is right. Candy colors are translucent. They are very thin. That way, whatever you back them with will show through a bit. I would concur with him. Back with a light color. I'd suggest silver. Or if you want to get daring, back it with chrome. But first, take a 2 liter soda bottle and cut it in half lengthwise. Wash it good and use that as a test piece. That way you can try different backing and see which you like better...

If you need to get the paint off without ruining your body, use ELO.
Easy-Lift-Off.
It's made by Polly S. #552144.
Removes the paint without damage to the lexan. I use an old tooth brush.
Takes some time, and a few applications, but takes ALL the paint off.
I've salvaged many a body from bad paint jobs with this stuff.
Here. I did you one better. Here is the link.

ELO, wasn't that a group in the 70s? Enoch Light and the Electric Light Orchestra.
Thanks for that link, RatzoRC, I never heard of that stuff before. I noticed it's made by Floquil. Gotta be good stuff.

well guys I went to the hobby store and found a can of silver I looked for gold as my friend dad told me to do, but I couldnt find it. This paint looks way better with something behind it. I am sort of proud of this body I am sure I will have pics up soon
