paint brand & pressure

Just curious what brand paints you experienced guys use and what pressure you're shooting.

I'm currently using fastkolor at 30psi for broad base coats, 15-20psi for finer work with my iwata.

I'm still slogging along with Faskolor and Createx which are essentially the same. My biggest beef is that Faskolor is inherently thick and if you don't thin it, you sometimes have to run up to 40-60 psi for an even spray. I just don't like spraying that high because it's too easy to create runs. Createx is thinner, but I would even thin that more. I would rather be able to just spray around 20 psi and be happy so that I'm not blowing paint all over the place.

Yeah, I noticed I was blowing a lot of paint all over and having to refill my gravity cup way too often. What are you thinning yours with and to what ratio? Are the Parma paints any easier? I just want to fill & go, not have to peepee around with thinning every time.

Actually Pactra Acryls are a lot thinner and easier to use. NCNitro uses them a lot and likes them. They're water-based so they're easy to clean up. You should be able to just use them right out of the jar.
If you stick with Faskolor for now, you can just thin them with water. Most people I've read about just thin them 1:1 and go from there. Other people have said they use standard windshield washer fluid because it evaporates quicker. But I haven't really tried that so I can't vouch for it.

Uh, so why are we using Faskolor again?

I use Parma a lot more than Createx or Pactra for the major basic spraying. I like to thin with rubbing alcohol. It works very well, and speeds up the drying process.

Pactra Acryl, by far the best water based lexan paint on the market! Try it once and you won't want to use anything else. I shoot it at 15-20 psi.

 

[Lessen]

I spray regular Pactra. It's a laquer so it requires thinner for cleaning. I thin it either by 50% or 100% depending on the the type of paint and I shoot around 15 psi. I'll crank it up to around 20 for larger areas and down as low as about 12 psi for finer details.
