So for my DC10's drift body I'm planning on using the same color scheme as the DR10. Since drift is so  flashy I'm wanting to match these wheels to the main color ( Tamiya PS-19 Camel Yellow). Can i use the same polycarbonate spray on the wheels (specifically the black spoke insert) or should I opt for the 'AS' or 'TS' paints?

Yeah, you can probably paint those no problem.

But, I would advise you to primer them first. Primer etches into the surface you spray it on. If you simply paint them with the Tamiya paint, it may peel off eventually.

Scuff up your wheel centers with a little gray scotchbrite. Clean them with soapy water, followed by a quick dip in a bowl of isopropyl alcohol. Shake it off. Shake it off. Let them dry completely, at least 20 minutes or so.

If painting the wheels yeller, prime the centers with white . If you want the yellow to be darker, primer it with black. Any guess what grey primer will do? 😉😜

Primer them very, very lightly with some Tamiya surface primer. Wait a couple minutes, then give them another light coat. Do 2 or 3 light coats, extending the wait between coats each layer.

You will be very smart to let that primer cure before going in with the finish paint. Find something else to work on for at least 24 hours. The longer you let the primer cure, the better the adhesion will be.

I would clean it good. Use a Scotchbrite pad. Then use a etching primer the rc paint and a clear coat all in thin coats

I did this all except the clear coat, never again 🤣 just too much work.
I painted my wheels on a drill running at crawler speed so I could get in all the nooks and cranny’s, it was fun but next time I’ll just buy colored wheels if possible..
