Still winter here... Body creation still moving along. The plan is to make short course bodies nobody's seen before.

We'll call these "Schellabascher" series bodies. (it's body shell bashing... parts from different ones fit together on a base platform... then some creative bits... and viola.

The first one, mold is ready... and two others on the way.

the first one is called "50'ish".... then a Chevy C10 (called C-X.. AND that bitchin Proline Ford F100 needs some competition), then the Questionable Van... yep.

Mold making is a pain. These are just plaster, but... I take them to a guy that vacuum forms a 1/8" thick master reverse mold so I can make another any time should one get whackadoo.

I thought of making my own vacuum table but haven't yet. Any good pointers?

LOL!

That's awesome, would love to see your results. I watched some madman setup a bunch of space heaters on a frame and used a shop vac for the vacuum table. I guess it worked but looked kinda sketchy

Vacuum tables suck! 😉🤣
Those bodies are really cool!!!
Nice work on the mash ups! 😎😍
Weird too... I used to drive a couple Questionable Vans in my day! 🤔

I figured some might like that questionable van. Work today (I'm really attempting to start my own body business here)...

The original mold of the 50's something blew up under the pressure of a pro vacuum forming guy... but only the top caved in. Luckily, I've got another top as I cast a few spares for another idea. So, the 50's something is put back together and ready to go soon by recreating it using the 1/8 thick reverse mold the guy made me. The original mold, is being repaired and onto the 2nd rendition of that 50's something car.... the NOMAD wagon version.

Then more sanding on the C-X. (the Chevy C10 thingy at the bottom) The goal with this one, make a neato competitor for that Proline F100 badass that seems so darn popular. Not near done yet, details take time.

Should be ready soon to pop out some bodies in a few weeks & see where we've landed.

I've been wanting to make a Van Halen Van

Tiny update. Work on the C X (that's C 10 folks... roman numeral.)

Removal of the chevy emblem... a whole mess of fine work & sanding... this one will be the first one off the line along with that "van in question.". I loved that Ford by Proline..... the 67 Race truck and although they do make Chevy's.... they don't make one that appears to rival that awesome ford they made. It's like they punted when it came to it and pissed off the Chevy fans (I am one.)

So, The plan, make this one as the match to that ford, patent the design... and see if it sells. The others will come along shortly.

Mold making is all the work... and if it does work out like I think... we'll make a little moola on this silly venture. If not, I'm only out the time and a few bucks... but I'll have spare bodies for FAR cheaper than buying new.

More to go, then we're off to my Vacuum friend to see what a real one looks like.

Thanks for a lookin! Yep.

I'd be interested in the van body once you got em

Work continues... (like, a crazy amount of work to make the mold) but... we're about to pop some bodies out and see where we've landed.

All short course bodies, (fits slash & all others) but can be used as drag too if one wishes.... The questionable van, the CX (roman numeral X, that's the C10 short course competitor to that proline Ford F100 baha thingy) and, my own design for the same... the 50-something. The wagon version of the 50-someething will appear soon.

I won't be making these here, I have a guy with a plastics company that can produce em. More soon.

I like them body styles a lot :thumbs-up: . Having just ran across a new HoBao SCT about to come out, and seeing that van body possibly needing additional support...

Have you done a mockup with the van body on a SCT chassis? I'd love to know how much bumper material has got to go, or be modified.

The original "thing" was a Ford F100 body I laid things out on with other crap. In the end, it all got laid out on the basic Ford F100 body, then I took the last 5 trashed bodies I had... cut up the tops... and spliced it all together, then cast the inside. (don't ask about my silly methods... it's why I call it Shellabasher)

It's gonna look like this basically. It was mocked up on a slash so here's the visual of what it "should" look like. Just some Taller body posts and It should be fine. LOL!

I'm still on the fence as what to call the thing... but the possibilities of paint scheme's are really endless (e.g. Creepy white van, short bus, ambulance, overlander, police van... grand theft Ford.... ice cream truck.... I'm sure someone will come up with some offensive scheme.)

I’m loving that van! Let us know when these are available
You bet. The bodies I'm going to have in hand this week, will be the first to come from these molds. This should show me what needs to happen if anything. After that, paint one of each & take representative photos for some version of packaging... and other things.

Representative pics are what will sell the things. With the CX (that chevy short course thingy) I'll be doing it up a mint green with white top & such like the original truck, with black adornments to sell it. It should pop and call to the chevy folks that are mad that proline forgetted about them. LOL! The Van, I'll probably just paint it yellow like a bus, and put black letters on it calling it a short van.... the 50's thingy... I'm unsure just yet.

I can't copy Proline's stickers as that's illegal so... early versions of this madness might just be the body.

Update on this silly project: Having visited numerous pro vacuum plastics guys here, I learned a lot about this process. (e.g. make the buck hollow in a way, holes in the right places to allow proper forming, draft angles, etc.

I think we're ready to pop out Version 1 of these goofy things after a delay (learning things)

This week, should see their birth initially in 040 PETG. The reason, petg doesn't require the drying process and is enough for this stage. This stage is to make the perfect molds and see where I am (e.g. how deep to make detail, etc.) Once that's right, we "cast" long term molds from the PETG bodies... then destroy the petg body getting it off the cast. (side note: Plaster of paris & things like it.. don't last all that long as "bucks.")

We'll also use these first ones (we'll make 3 of each) as the painted representative bodies. (no wonder people don't go into business doing this... it's work)

Amazing work man. I can't wait to hear how the learning turns out. I wish you luck. But I think you got it. You obviously have a very unhealthy attention to detail trait 🤣
