The outside air temp droped from around 60 Deg to about 40 Deg F when I broke in my VZB. It was hard to keep the temp up even running a hairdryer on high right on top of the head. I don't think you would have that kind of trouble this time of year.

I like the hairdryer (heatgun if you are carefull) to bring the temp up before the inital start idea.

When I broke in my Storm's B01 engine, it was below freezing and there was a foot of snow on the ground. Not exactly ideal break in conditions.

The only way to get it started at all was to head up the head with a blow dryer. I'd get it above 100 degrees and it would start up without trouble. With the pull start, mind you. It would get up to 200 degrees pretty fast. I heat cycled it about 4 tanks because I couldn't drive it in the snow (well, I could have...) Anyways, it worked great, and the engine was a blast for a couple gallons until the rear bearing blew out.

You can break in an engine in the cold, the heat, whatever. Even during break in, you should get your engine up in temps (200c) and you can do it even when it's below freezing.
