opinions on o.s r.g engine and blue thunder fuel

O.K guys I greatly appreciate all the answers you all have given my questions so heres another what do you guys think of the O.S.rg21 AND RUNNING BLUE THUNDER FUEL IN IT????I didnt realize till after bout 10 tanks it only had 10% oil in it .Is there really a need to run the 18 % oil in O.S.only???Any ways this rg was really hard to tune and keep tuned and I'm bout to get another engine so yalls opinions will be greatly appreciated..My thinking is that this blue thunder sorta did my engine bad cause its only got bout 3/4 of a gallon in it and the compression is way low and like i have said before i was always running it really rich jus cause i was messing round on the track....And like I said also it dont idle or hold a tune worth a dam....Anyways yalls opinions will be greatly appreciated....THANKS......

The only fuel I use (unless I'm in a pinch) is O'Donnell 20%. The best fuel made, IMO.

well, i wouldn't chalk up the low compression to bad fuel or the lube content. blue thunder, i think, uses some synthetic lubes these days (like odonnel). That 18% crap thing you read refers to natural lubes (castor oil). Synthetic lubes are more effcient and hence lower lube percentages are fine.

from what I've read and heard, blue thunder is one of the SAFER fuels having a better lubrication package at the cost of a little performance.

it's possible that you did some damage to the engine durring break-in and that's the cause of your compression issues. Also, running the engine hot will also cause it to crap out early too.

I've read many good things about blue thunder. I'd probably run it myself if my LHS stocked it.

Ok, I don't know why the links not working. Just go to www.twf8.ws then to tech data and fuel. I've heard the reason is because in Japan chroming is expensive and OS doesn't use the same quanity/quality of chroming as some of the Italian manufactures. Don't know for sure.

I have read some where that these are the top fuels used:
Odonell,Trinity monster20% and blue thunder 20%, these are all good fuels, I have three OS mills and use Trinity monster20% in all three,although its not impossible, I really dont think your compression problems were due to the fuel,an OS motor will rarely start to lose compression during the break-in proccess, you may have been running to hot or lean,did you cool the mill down between tanks? when I broke in my first mill I was a bit anxious and wasn't paying attention to these important factors and lost not only compression, but the piston and sleeve as well! the lesson I learned was take your time with the break in, it will assure a good/long running mill! If you feel that this wasn't the problem, go ahead and switch fuels and see what it does! Good luck!
