Remember those "suicide charger cords"? Two alligator clips on one end and a Tamiya plug on the other end. Don't take your eyes off of that.

Vintage racing has been making a huge comeback recently....vintage electronics with magic crystals not so much....doesn't mean I have any intention of making this modern, or brushless or even adding oil filled shocks. This one is gonna continue to remain basically stock and bring me hours of fun on the backyard oval.View attachment 259221
What the AM are you doing with that?! Just kidding.

I'm 16 but these have given me numerous headaches as well lol. Almost every used nitro still comes with them (here). I've had to throw like 10 complete TX/RXs away after months of trying to sell them for $5. Buyers are well aware of its troubles😅

Now that I am done screwing around breaking in motors for the night...I thought I would put 1 in something.

pulled the factory motor from the sr27 and swapped it for 1 of these in the bag. Interesting....I think it will be faster. Definitely does not have as much torque off the line, but sounds like it winds out pretty good with no load on it. Changed from a 9t to a 6t pinion and got my off the line troubles worked out just fine.

My first radio (1984) mail ordered from Circus Hobbies came with two servos...

I couldn't imagine the specs on the servos. Hey, 40 oz-in was probably "good enough" back then. 😁
My first PCM transmitter was a JRPropo Alpina! The ergo’s SUCKED, it had the worst wheel ever, and looked like torn colon, but it worked great! 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Its funny. I buy 'vintage' rc all the time. I have bought a bunch of old radio gear with the cars that I'm after.
Almost ever piece of old radio gear I buy still works!!!
I have a few broken servos, a receiver with a case that looks like it was melted in acid...mostly tho, it all works. Even old escs from Futaba and brands most ppl never knew existed. 🤣

Not sure we'll be able to expect the same from the new gear that requires updates.

You need to add a wooden clothes pin to your antenna, don't forget to write your frequency on it. Good times
We had a board of clothes pins at my local track. When you arrived and paid your track fee, you took your pin. The good old days!

Funny enough, this is how I used to store my clothes pin while at the track:

Spending a little time getting to mount some new rubber on the back of the mini t. These use an odd wheel with the hex built into the rim essentially. Rather than torture myself combing the internet for a set of replacements that will work, I figured I would torture myself manually removing the spent glued on tires .

Got rims that will work, and even the original foams aren't that bad.
