I got this same lesson from my 18 yr old daughter. I was on the phone when I said awesome for some reason. She yelled Dad!

I stopped and had to think about what I was saying. I didn't remember dropping any F bombs.

I asked her what? She informed me of the lameness associated with the word awesome. Apparently I'm too old to have known this.

This means a lady that was visiting the hospital where I work told me to have a lame day, and on my birthdays of all days, how rude, LOL!!!!

On Friday, a lady asked me to pick up a roll of aluminum foil. When I brought it to her, she said THAT.
I explained to her that the word had become meaningless and lame and she promised me that she would never use it again. SCORE!!
Why would bringing someone a roll of foil be so earth moving and incredible that it would actually inspire AWE?
The word's meaning does not mean lame, but the use of it has become lame and the user's vocabulary has wasted away to a "One word says all" mentality.
