oily back plate and roto start slipping helppp

If I were you I would toss in a bnib .28 like an lrp and call it a day, sounds like a classic case of a used and uncared for engine, verry verry common, we hear and se it every day,...a loose carb will create an almost untuneable engine, you can seal the engine up and give it another go if you like, you will need a tube of the copper rtv,
 
I'm on the look out for a 4.6 maybe a 5.9 its a savage x but think the 1st version with the 4.1 2 speed any other recomended engines like hong nor ect? I will try get this engine sorted just so i have a spare :) new carbs hpi are selling for £18 down from £40 so may get new carb

If i get a new carb and back plate shall i seal both? anything els being sealed would help?
 
Its probably worth the time to take it apart and seal it up, just so you can get familiar with the process, then when you buy a new engine you will already have the experiance of doing it
 
Yh id rather practice on a rubish engine then new ill try befor i buy new back plate and carb what sould be sealed just so i no when i do this? I'm suprised they dont come sealed tbh! Whats the best glow plugs for the savage? Want to get some for cold weather plus some for the summer want to get stocked up thats all :)
 
didnt read thru all comments but my option would be if its slipping try replacing the one way bearing and as far as it leaking o rings will never hurt to start with (check engine for cracks)
 
Bogs and cuts out and not a lot tbh not compared to my mates savage his savage flys and runs perfect and has loads of blue smoke
