Hi guys,

I've got the pink ofna box with the motor mounted inline to start my buggy. My problem is that my gel cell will not fit inside the box. I've got it sitting next to the box when I need to use it at home, but I'd like to be able to just grab the starterbox and run. I don't want to lug around the box and the gel cell seperately if I head to the track. Any elegant solution you can think of?

Hey bro Hit me up on yahoo. I may have your solution...

I'll take a pic of it tonight. I'd rather not duct tape them together, I'd like a solution that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

MW, I have no idea why OFNA painted this particular box pink, its supposed to be a really popular box with the 1/8 scale on road guys.
It does go well with my assless chaps though.

LOL I wasn't serious. My dad has the same problem, but a different box. It only fits in when the motor is set up for 1/10 offroad. So he just starts the buggy sideways on it haha.

Widen the box a bit:

1.) Take some tin snips and make two vertical cuts down the side of the box. These cuts should be slightly wider than the length of the battery apart.

2.) Bend the section between the cuts out flat, to make a shelf for the battery to sit on.

3.) The shelf will likely be wider than the battery, so bend any excess up against the battery. Also, the shelf should be longer than the battery, bend any excess in front and behind the battery up as well. Now the battery should be supported on 3 sides by metal.

4.) With battery sitting on the newly made tray, punch two holes between the battery and the inside of the box on the tray.

5.) Run two heavy duty zip ties through the holes to hold the battery firmly against the metal sides that you made by bending up the ends of the shelf.

Its butt ugly, but it works well.

Here is my pathetic attempt to draft using MS Paint:

Thanks for the idea and pictures kx250rider. Can you post some pics of your setup so I can see what the final product would look like?

Here is my starterbox setup

I dont know much about starter boxes but if there is enough space you could flip the motor around and then install the battery where the motor was?

I wish my Ofna box had a motor that big! Mine has the two smaller ones, which works OK because I can fit the battery in there, but I have to really work it to turn the engine over on my Hyper.

I was going to say the samething as dougc.

Here is my solution to the problem..
Get a ofna chrome top...Sorry bro but if you don't want to hack it up.I see no way to stuff that batt in that box...

Besides that IT IS PINK!

I am a 1/2 inch short in space to flip the motor around. I'd have to hack the top and side plate to clear the wheel and locate new holes for the motor bracket.

I think kxrider has got a good idea there. But instead of cutting down a side and bending it flat as a platform, I can cut a hole in the side the exact size of the gel cell, make a small flat bracket and secure the bracket inside the starter box. Drill a couple holes in the bracket to secure the gel cell with zip ties.

Hmm both involve quite a bit of work...

Damn Z you know how to break it down for a brotha!

Just doing my part Brotha!
Now for some coin I could make it fit LOL..
Some cutting and welding.A little bondo I could make it work for ya!
But the cost of getting RE powder coated to make it look good...Would cost more then just selling the one you have...And buying the ofna chrome box!

S.D., I used to have that exact same box and had no problem fitting the gel cell inside. If that's a new cell, see if you can take it back and find a smaller dimension one, I know it can be done.

Real men don't fear pink. :D

This would orient the wheel in the wrong direction for a buggy.

well it would but then you could swap the negitive with the positive and vola it would spin the way you needed it to.
