NTC-3 question

Neighbor bought a used NTC-3. Thing was a wreck. He did a fantastic job of fixing it up. It is all up and running. We tuned it and it ran real sweet. Problem is, it will not shift to second. We think that the prior owner messed with the shift clutch. It will run real hard to full throttle in first, but it won't shift. I had him lean it out to the point it stalled at full throttle, and it still would not shift (T-Maxx tip).

Where and how is the NTC-3 shift points adjusted?

ta's websight says out to sift faster.. 1/4 turn it says.. google it i guess.

beason, where is the adjustment screw? Is it off to one side from center like the Revo?

you have to hold car off the ground and then slowly turn the wheels. Look at the (gold colored) disc around the tranny and there will be a hole for the screws to adjust. Don't adjust the silver screws, the ones you want to adjust are the black headed ones that go in kinda at an angle. There are two, so once you adjust one you have to slowly turn the wheels while holding the disc in place until the next screw comes around. Out is a faster shift (I think). I think starting point is 2.5 turns out. Just be careful when you tighten them to find your starting point as you can mess up the springs.

never had one.. thats just what ta;s websight said i googled a pic and i would guess the screw would be in the silver sleeve just behind the gears..

Also, just so that you are starting at a good reference point. Crank down both adjustment screws and back them out 2 1/2 turns. After that, make equal adjustments in 1/4 turn incriments. Turn counter clockwise for earlier shift, clockwise for later shift. You should be looking for about a 25-30 foot shift for most tracks.

When looking for the adjsutment screws, Hold one wheel and with your thumb, keep the 2 speed still till the adjustment screws come into sight. They are at an angle.
