today while driving my nitro monster king it started making a weird sound and drove very slow.

When I looked at the truck i noticed the clutch bell was half off i did not take the engine out to take a better look since I do not have time now.
I also noticed it did some damage to the spur gear not sure if it needs to be replaced but it looks chewed up on the edges.

The truck is only about a week old any ideas why the clutch bell would come loose like that? I attached a picture of what I am talking about.
Also what kind of damage am I looking at here?

thanks again.

Thanks for the reply

how can I tell if the bearings are fried?
If they are not fried and it was caused by the screw coming loose I can just put it back together without needing to replace anything besides the spur gear correct?

Thanks again for all your help!

Well, you probably lost a shim or two as well. If I were you, I'd pickup a shim kit. They are cheap enough and nice to have on hand whenever your messing around with engines/clutches/flywheels. Or when stuff falls off your truck. ;)

Look at the bearings. Put them on the shaft and spin them by hand. If the seals are missing, they feel gritty or have any side to side movement, it's time to replace them. I'm not sure what size you use, but most use 5x10 bearings. They can be bought cheap enough:

I buy them in multiples of two. I usually buy at least 10 to make the order worth making.

First off i wanted to thank you for all your help you seem to be the only one to answer my questions.
I am guessing the lack of response is due to stupid questions or because i do not have a respectable truck.
But we all have to start somewhere,

Anyway I decided to call the warranty number which came with the truck since I got it only 3 weeks ago and told them about what happened, the lady knew exactly what I was talking about so I am guessing this is a know problem. She said she is sending a different clutch I believe (the thing that has the spring around it think it’s the clutch) one that is more durable, and the other parts that she believes are damaged at no charge including the spur gear. I was amazed how easy it was she did not even require me to give her any proof that I even purchased the truck.

So just waiting on the parts to arrive

Thanks again.

Well I received my parts yesterday and the clutch shoe does not look like the one they show in the manual.
although the lady said she was sending me a different one this one does not look correct.

the picture in the manual shows that the clutch shoe should fit together like a donut would if you cut it in half and put it back together the part i received does not fit together like that.

does this look like it will work see pic.

They're just a slightly different design. Should work just fine. The lack of responses is due to the fact that your questions were answered thoroughly. Your truck is an Hpi. Far from not respectable.:)

well i finally got a chance to try and fix this using the parts hpi sent under warranty and the part that broke was actually the Pilot shaft m5 which i do not have plus i can not even get the bolt off kind of worried I may damage something in the process. should I try and get this off or call HPI since truck is like a month old not sure what they would say.

see attached photo.

Why won't it come off? Are you holding the flywheel with pliers or are you using a flywheel wrench? Is the nut turning and the crankshaft is turning while the flywheel isn't?
