Just got a NIB rd-logics turbo11 pipe with all the hardware ( side mount exhaust) but it didnt come with a header to engine gasket. So i emailed the guy and asked if the pipe was suposed to come with one and he replied back and said " no those dont use those anymore"
How is that going to seal metal to metal with no gasket?

Thank's in advance
C3.

a thin bead of silicon sealent, you could also go to a auto parts store and see if they have a gasket sheet, you could then cut out your own gaskets.
you could also check your lhs they may a few types of gasket that just might fit.
What typer of engine do you have

O.S cvr .12

So i do need some kind of gasket inbetween?

You will need a gasket; You can actually use any brand. I used a Losi gasket on my GT for a while; you can get a pack of 3 for about $1.50 at your LHS.

i use silicone fuel line for mowers.....on my wasp28.....i get it at a hardware store fer bout 15cent a foot and it will make about 12 gaskets if you use the rear exhaust system........find a size in diameter what will fit on the exhaust hole on the engine & cut to 1 inch lengths......slip it on all the way & attatch the header/muffler in the normal way......seals better than most factorymade hobbyshop gaskets & last about the same length of time......

The guy is either a moron or lying to you. You do need a gasket.

speedticket, it is a side mount exhaust, not rear, so it uses a totally different type of gasket.

side exhaust ? like a model plane engine ? never seen one for nitro cars or trucks......our hobbyshop only has the rear exhaust kind......are they any good ?

Side exhaust engines were far more common about 3 years ago. In fact, the vast majority of smallblocks are still side exhaust.

i make my own gasket out of a sheet of gasket material, then i smear some high temp. silicone to make sure it gets sealed.

Sounds cheezy, but you can cut them out of thin cardboard from like a cereal box. That compresses enough to seal. If you're not totally comfy with that, then just put a thin layer of gasket seal on both sides of the cardboard gasket before you wrench it on.

I was hesistant to do use silicone on as a gasket like on a 1:1 car, but it works great. You just have to let it cure properly. I let it sit 24 hours not overnite to cure.
