i have a xtm xt2 with a pull start. the motor has compression and is getting air and fuel, also the glo plug is good... but i can't get it to start.. i also charged my glo ignigtor and nothing.. any ideas to why it wont start?

thanks elijah

check the open the idle a bit and if it has been broken in already lean out the hsn.:D

Is this engine new? Are you new to nitro?

What are the temps where your starting it? If it's below 50F, you will have problems. If the engine is new and the temps are below 50F, you will find it very difficult to get it running.

the temps are in the 30's... the engine is broke in. yes I'm new to nitro:\

Well, if you have access to heat, get the engine heated up to above 70F, then try to fire it up. I usually run my heat on high from home to my bash site with my RC's on the floor of my car. Usually by the time I get where I'm going, they are a nice toasty 80F or so. As long as I fire them up quick while they are warm, they start pretty quick and easy.

I've recently found that pre-warming the block with a heat gun or hair dryer will do wonders in getting them to start easier! Also, if you've got the needles adjusted alot you might want to go back to the factory settings.. (And retune once ya get it running again) Also, make sure your glow plug is getting juice by hooking it up to the ignitor outside of the motor (so you can see if the element is glowing good) just be careful not to burn youself.. Also make sure you motor is primed with fuel.. If all systems are good, she should fire right up!

thanks guys.... the glo plug glows cherry red out side the engine. also i think i will try the hairdryer thing... also the engine hasnt been ran in like 2 months. but thanks for yalls help :D

Re:

Hey I live in CA and recently bought my first nitro. I had this problem in montery when it was like 50 outside. Take your car inside let it warm up with no fuel in it. It might help if your fuel is warm but dont be stupid and use any warmers. Just store it very carfully in your mud room or somewhere safe inside. Make sure the car is warm. By car I mean batts, engine, fuel, reciever. Then if you can start it in your garage first if you are going to drive it somewhere else. To start it after a week or so, I prime it, take off the air filter put some directly into the carb, take out the glow plug and put a ONE OR TWO drops in there. be careful not too much in the glow plug hole!!! then, test your plug, put it back in and put back the air filter and try starting it. It should start immediently. Just make sure to keep the engine warm. The method I explained above worked great for me.
