i have had great luck with it. the only thing i had a problem with was the carb and the seller danlc4 sent me a new one for nothing.dan is a great seller and he even took a lower offer on the baja when i bought from him.i still ended up buying a walbro 990 carb because everyone suggested it. i did break one of the a arms but that was my fault when i jump at full speed and cartwheeled. other than that i have had it for over a year and still kickin. great ride!

It all boils down to you and what your willing to pay/learn,scale also plays a factor, large scale generally use gasoline which compared to nitro is cheap, but don't plan on bringing it in your house like you can with a nitro, where are you gunna run it? 1/5 scale seem to like a greater size area than there smaller nitro cousins,do you like mt or buggys? Imo there is no 1/5 mt worth buying,...do you have experiance with nitro? They require a skill level "unlike gas engines "to me that's part of the fun of it knowing that your engine is only running well because you tuned it to!

...on another note,I agree with the above mentioned rtr's Maxx, savage, revo, an lst would be a great choice as well,...as for 1/5 on a budget I would snag a redcat rampage,or even there baja lookalike ,I've witnessed first hand some abuse on a rampage and haven't seen one fall apart yet

cheers for the replys guys. looks like theres more to nitro/petrol cars than i thought. :O could do with a book to read up on them i think. are infinity motors any good? any you guys know? :) found a monster truck online last night for £130 pound with a infinity motor. just wondered if they where ok or just cheap and nasty rubbish?

i have never heard of that brand but if i were you i would stick with a brand like traxxas, hpi, team associated, losi, kyosho, duatrax, or ofna for a good nitro. you may want to go to your local hobby shop and see what they stock as far as parts and buy something that they stock because there is nothing worse that when you have a day to play with you rig and you break a part and have to wait a week for the part. the truck that you are looking at i would think that the only place to get parts would be online. if you are looking for cheap try starting with a traxxas stampede, nitro sport, or rustler.almost every hobby shop has parts for all of these trucks and they are pretty good starter trucks. i hope this helps.

Exactly! You want something with good part support. So yeah, check your LHS and see what they carry.

You should have left Duratrax out of that list. They should only sell that brand at the dollar store because that is all it's worth. (maybe!)

This coming from somone wh supports smart-Tech? At least Duratrax has parts support when thier stuff breaks. Go out and find a Smart-Tech 1/8 Ebuggy and i would put the Duratrax DXR8-E beside it any day. Duratrax has come a long way in the past few years,
Are they the best? No, Are they as good as traxxis,Losi, HPI etc No.....but they blow Smart-Tech out of the water.

Maxxfreek I was going to say the same thing. At least there are major sellers that carry Duratrax. I am not fond of them, they are the bottom of the hobby grade list but WAY better than Smartech garbage.

I dont know why you are bashing duratrx if you run smarttech. Duratrx is way better than the no name truck that he posted in his link and if he is on a buget most of what i posted have beginner buget cars.
If i would have added smarttech to my list everyone on the forum would have been on me like flies on s%@! That should tell you something.

I don't own a smartech anything. The guys I run with do and they run good. I have a FG (which is probably one step up from a Smartech!). My son had Duratrax and the one he had was junk and we couldn't find parts anywhere. And he just about had to give it away to get rid of it because no one wants one. Maybe they have improved but I'd have to see it.

And you're saying that Smartech parts can be purchased anywhere? Sorry, but everything I've personally seen makes believe that the Smartech is about as high quality as the WalMart sold Nikko RCs. I've actually seen Duratrax parts at my LHS.

Have you wondered why people are so down on Smartech here? Could it be that we have had experience with them? Bad experience?

dont forget thunder tiger make some very good nitro rc`s ( hard to get hop ups ) but spare parts are available pretty much every ware

my tomahawk ST is still going strong and is actually running well with a XTM 24.7 engine and I'm going to upgrade it to a 2 speed once i find a tomahawk VX centre diff in my price range

and also ansmann make some good nitro cars from my experience and are pretty cheap

cheers for the replys guys. thats one thing that did bother me......... buying a cheap one and the parts been hard to come by. idealy id like one you build yourself but do you have to tune the engine too? i might have problems doing that not owning nitro cars before.

Dear NON crimen!!I think summit is the best for the long route because i know that the capacity of the gas is less then the petrol but its measured the maximum distance with in less gas on the opposite petrol make the engine more powerful then the gas.if you that summit is not for the best choice then what i the alternate of the summit?

The Summit is neither gas nor nitro. It is an electric truck. As far as a better rig goes, what are you wanting to use it for?

Dear asdo222

You are very much incorrect, sir. The summit does not have a fuel tank. That is because it doesn't run on fuel.
