hey,
I have recently purchased a Traxxas Nitro rustler and i am now looking to invest in some aftermarket equipment. I found an article on how to beef up your shocks with aluminum shock heads and different silicone shock weight oil and different springs. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for spring/shock wt combinations front and rear. Also, I am looking for an aftermarket air filter. They make plenty for the T-maxx but i am worried it wont clear my body.

Thanks,
Drew

Hey there drew, Here is my shock set up. I am using xxx-nt shock front and rear and I love them.

Before I was using Traxxas Big Bores and didn't find anything special but the aluminum then I switched to losi's and there great, I have rc-parts.com springs on them.

You could use a K&N air filter. They are fairly short. Or, use motor saver, that should fit. As a hop up suggestion, www.ssrcracing.com makes some of the strongest shock towers out there. If you buy the kit for front and rear, all you really need is the alum rear bulkhead, and they make that too!!! That is a small business out of New York, and i did business with them about 2 years ago, and i reccomended them to all my friends and they got the towers from 'em. No broken parts anymore. The stock shocks really arent meant for big jumping (just like the shock towers and rear bulkhead) but they do work. I couldnt really suggest any shocks, because i'm not too fimiliar with the shocks on that truck, but the losi shocks sound like a hit.

Thanks for the responses guys, keep it coming! I can't find the losi shocks but ill keep on looking. I think I'm going to go for a motorsaver's air filter. Those aluminum parts sound sweet ill look into them. Thanks for the suggestion!

and there goes shock number 1...haha right side front fork. I slid into a rock going pretty damn fast and the shock cap/tower did not agree with my decision :D
