Hi guys.

I've recently purchased a kyosho DBX 2.0 rtr, I know some of you guys suggest not to go down the rtr route, but this is my first nitro car and didn't want to pay a fortune just yet.
My question is, the model I bought didn't come with a transmitter or receiver, I have a 27mhz transmitter and receiver from an old electric rc car, would this work on my new nitro car? The nitro car was originally sold with a 2.4ghz 4 channel receiver And transmitter, but the previous owner has not sold that to me as he is still using it (the car is still brand new and never been used)
Or do I have to buy a new receiver and transmitter as well?

Also regarding fuel, which fuel should I use for this particular model, 15/20/25%

Yes, you can use any 2-channel (or more) radio set. But I would suggest simply buying a new one, as 2.4 GHz sets can be had very cheap now. I really like the Flysky GT3C, which can be had for $60 shipped, comes with one receiver. The beauty of it is that extra receivers are only $7 each, and the transmitter has 10-model memory.

On fuel, use whatever you want, just tune it right and make sure to use an appropriate glow plug (generally speaking, hotter fuel=colder plug). I usually run 20%, but also use 30% when I want a little extra punch. I run medium, medium cold or cold plugs for the most part.
 
Thanks for that, big big help, a few more question if i may (sorry, i am as fresh as they come)
coming from an electric rc background, and as i've been out of the loop for a few years, i only ever used 2 channel receivers, one for the steering servo and one for the esc.
If i were to get a 3 or 4 channel receiver, what would the extra channels be used for? am i right in saying that i can plug a fail-safe into it? or have i got the wrong idea?

Also regards the tuning, is this relatively easy for a newbie to learn and can i pick a general video off youtube and follow instructions given on there?
i also assume the higher the percentage fuel is the 'hotter temperature' as mentioned above

Welcome back! On your question of tuning, there is a wealth of info here and YouTube. One of the members here has a great YouTube channel. His name is nitro nerd. Look his videos up.
In tuning, the more you do the better you'll be. Ambient temp is a key factor, always consider that. Also, this really helped me out: KNOW WHEN TO WALK AWAY FOR A LITTLE WHILE! I've solved so many nitro issues by backing off for a bit. They require a unique finesse not found in any other machine. Small adjustments mean big results. I'm sure this is all stuff you know, so enjoy!
( the 2.4 system is so worth the coin to have!)
 
Hi guys, finally got round to breaking the engine in today. All went well, I think/hope
However, I have one question, after break in, I obviously started driving around, taking my time and not doing anything stupid, but I found that after I decelerate and take my finger off the trigger completely it sounds like it is idling very high (if that makes sense) the trim is set right, so this is not the problem, I have tried altering the 'idle screw' Ccw but this results in the engine stalling when I decelerate and take my finger off the trigger.
But when I turn it cw, it seems to be revving high so much so there is movement in the wheels when I pick the car up. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
