Thats because people are made to think that all lipo batteries are ticking time bombs, that will blow up and make a huge mushroom cloud. The only thing I've ever been able to get out of a pack by shooting it with a 9mm, was a hole, and a bunch of smoke.

I prefer electric over nitro for a few different reasons.

Performance- All my electrics have outperformed their nitro equivalents.

Maintenance- No oil to clean off after running. No worrying about whether I put the piston to BDC after running, no ARO, and no glow plugs to foul.

Sound- I can run my electric almost anywhere and anytime. With nitro I have to make sure I am considerate of my neighbors or whomever is around. Though a 1/8 scale electric running an all steel gears is not exactly quiet (sounds more like an angry swarm of bees), I can get away with it more than running even a small nitro engine such as the .12 in my CRT.5.

Drive time- The effort put into tuning a nitro engine is now put into honing one's driving skills. Less variables to worry about equals more relax and have fun time. When ambient temps change instead of turning needles I'm turning the TX wheel. Consistent performance all the time.

With regards to tuning a electric set-up and monitoring your temps. Unless you change tire diameters or gearing all the time, once you figure out the correct set-up you do not have to constantly keep monitoring your temps.

I do like my one electric (Speed T), but I also enjoy tinkering with my nitro rigs. Sure they can be damn temperamental, but that just makes the good days so much more rewarding. And as you get to be more experienced, there seems to less problems with nitro.

I pick electric if you just coming tired from a school or work and just wanna relax a bit and do few runs with your rig but with nitro there is almost something that goes wrong etc while electric always work as it did last time.

And as you get to be more experienced, there seems to less problems with nitro.

You still need to constantly re-tune your engine whenever ambient conditions change. When was the last time you ran your nitro for more than a tank or two without touching the needles and still have it running perfectly the entire time?

Tuning does get easier with time, but you still have to do it.

I also enjoy tinkering with my rigs when I have the time, but mostly to make them faster, stronger, or lighter.

If things like neighbors, noice, smells aren't an issue such as it seems they are not for you then I'd prefer nitro simply for the satisfaction of it. I feel much more accomplishment when I get a nitro engine tuned and running nicely as well as making sure it's being maintained properly. If you just want something to run and have fun driving then electric is your thing. If you want something that offers more levels of realism which requires the type of maintenance and care as a BIG toy then nitro will offer much more personal satisfaction... IF you have the patience for it.

Well not to long ago I had my racer out in a indoor racing arena we had leased. Last time it ran was in 25-30c and it was 0-5c. I barely had to touch the needles and it only took me a couple of minutes to retune. The engine ran like clockwork the rest of the day burning through 1.5 liters of nitro. :)

Nitro has gotten very easy for me, and I rarely have tuning issues.

Really during the bashing months, you tune for the weather and unless it drastically changes throughout the day, I can run all day with periodic temp checks and be fine. I wouldn't say it's easier, but it's not as tough as some make it out to be.

besides, i think nitro is a little easier on your wallet too. the nitro is mostly $20 here $15 there (except when buying a new motor, lol) with the electrics you just pay out the nose every once in a while, pay $60 for a new battery, 2 months later come back and buy a esc for $80 you know what i mean?

I can't add any thing to this, except i too would go electric....all the guys who have voted electric have made so many valid points as to why it is superior to nitro that it wouldnt be a debate to me at all. nitro is cool, but not cool enuff to choose it over electric. brushless is the poop! lipo is the poop! nitro, is not! non stop maintenance, purchasing fuel, glow plugs, cleaning filters, tuning, tuning, tuning, buying fuel, glow plugs, tuning.............lol. its non stop with nitro. electric, buy your batteries, charge them, run it, run it hard, charge your batteries, run it, go to bed, wake up, charge your batteries, run it, run it hard..................lol. easy as that...

I did go electric, I bought a XL-5 Rusty I plan on converting brussless when I buy lipos and all.
