I'm really torn guys, I just can't decide on Nitro or Electric. I need help deciding.

Nitro:
Fuel and Go
Sound :D
Cheaper

Electric:
Plug and Play
Quite
More torque

I just can't decide, both have their pros and cons. I've always been a nitro guy but this is tearing me apart. I have both options for both directions but what one do I want??

I live right behind a Park, so space, noise and any of that doesn't matter. Plus my neighbors love to come out and watch. :)

Please vote on Nitro Or Electric and let me know why you chose your choice.

I do love brushless power but the price of good batteries just kills me! My Mamba Max @#$%ing destroys all but the most expensive batteries. 4000mah 25c Lipo...toast due to over amp draw...nice fat and swollen now. Yay....now I'll go play with my nitros

Nitro=Gas and go....not all the time it could be gas and tug on the pull start for 10 minutes trying to figure out the heck is going on...

I was into nitro now I have a brushless slash...charge.. play ..blow off with an air compressor done.. no after run oil or left over gas to mess with.

But with electric you still have tuning you have to do though don't you? You have to constantly check how hot your Motor/ESC is and make sure nothing is over heating. Plus you have to wait for your batteries to charge in between runs and Lipos can be hella dangerous. And without Lipos you have no good runs times or speed... You have to regear everything when you change tires, make adjustments all the time. Isn't it basically the same as Nitro?

Tune once and do it right...then it's plug and play.

Lipos are not dangerous if you use/charge them correctly, I never had one get anywhere near hot while charging or running......That goes back to tune it right!

Not even close to nitro!

Did you stay within the recommended limits? I never had problems with either of mine. I ran 4000 20c packs and they almost got warm after a full run.

Electric!

Its a lot easier to use when you want to and you dont have to tune it every time you want to use it!

I like electric cause it's plug and play and it always starts when you want it,tune it once and have it for life not like nitro, needs constant tuning when weather changes or you switched petrol to different brand etc, also no messy oils in Electric systems and no maintenance needed other then taking care for batteries, the only one thing that I really don't like is that you only get best performance when battery is fully charged and when it lost 50% of it's power then it suck, nitro powered have the same power all the time till the fuel tank goes empty, but in my case it costed me about £30 every month to buy nitro petrol, for £30 I can buy one 2s lipo...which I could use over 300 times, just calculate how much money you can save,so I'm 4 electric!
why?
if going electric only go with brushless!
1. can be faster then nitro when used brushless!
2. no maintenance needed other then charge up batteries!
3. no need to tune it when weather changes!
4. no messy oils & nitro!
5. less expensive in longer period of time! ( 5 liters of fuel equals 2s lipo in price! )
6. no need to carrying all the glow starters and less tools needed!
7. it can be way less noisy!
8. it's simple plug and play!

and that's why I have ordered Savage Flux!
but on other hand nothing is more fun then good nito monster truck that is tuned perfectly and runs on good petrol! and that's why I'm now saving up for Losi LST XXL !

In my opinion electric it's better if you play with your car every day like me but if you only using it on weekends I would go with nitro as I just love it but can't afford all the glow plugs, nitro etc,it gets too expensive sometimes, there for I'm going with electric for every day use and with nitro for weekends...

I have dropped lipos, i have impaled a lipo on a curb, and it hasn't caught on fire. Runtime with my lipo brushless is about 45 minutes, longer than any nitro will run without refilling.

nitro.

Electric is fun and the power is great but the beauty of nitro is that it still takes a touch of skill to make a truck run correctly. I personally enjoy the noise that nitro brings to the table. I started out with nitro, then went all out with brushed and brushless/lipo setups and i am finally back to nitro. Its just more fun IMO. So what if i have 10 minutes of maintenance after i am done running, to me thats part of the fun.

I got bored with electrics. Its the exact same truck every time you drive it. For some people thats great but for me i lose interest if i never work on or tweak the truck.

Electric if you are crawling or need to be silent, nitro for your normal bashers and gas if you have the cash and room to run them.

I have a slayer and savage and i am content. (well an scx now too :) )

all nitro motors are finicky, and all have problems. besides, id get bored with the electrics because their all pretty much matenince free. besides, i really dont like the battery stuff, id rather get hit in the eye with a peice of metal from a nitro, than have my house catch on fire because of batterys. to me, those batterys that are sitting there on the charger seem like a time bomb to me.

Electric for exactly what Mayhem said.

I'm a nitro fan as well. Granted, I've only really seen video's of electrics and they are very impressive. To me, running batteries makes it feel like more of a toy. Nitro makes it feel like more of a "grown up" hobby. I know, it's a head thing, but none-the-less, I feel less like an idiot when I'm out running my nitro's at 40mph than I would if it was just humming along quietly at 70mph.

That and the risk of a short starting a fire and learning a bunch of new stuff to deal with electrics properly. Also, I like running for 4-5 hours straight a day on a weekend. As good as brushless is, I'm pretty sure you don't get that kind of run time without cool downs.

I work 60+ hours a week... I don't want to be wasting my time charging packs and cooling motors. I want to bash when I got time to bash.

If it's taking you more than 5 minutes to get your gear out, nitro in a tank and having an engine running, then your doing something wrong.

Just my .02

it dont matter to me i like both of them i race a xxxt with a brushless gtb and a 13.5 and i raced a muggy last summer and i mgetting a x1crt here withing the next couple of weeks but i kind of decide on the season were in like the summer i race nitro more but i do race electric sometimes and in the winter i race my electric more than my nitro so it really up t you on what you want

The way i see it, all rigs use battery packs in one way or another, so the "charging ticking time bomb" is always a risk with ALL rigs, Gas, electric, or nitro.

I choose nitro. The same reasons as FLM and Olds. More realistic, requires some skill and less like a "toy".

Alpine is dead on about the batteries though, we ALL need them in one way or another.

Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. You'll have to decide for yourself.

my rig runs on solar with an explosion proof flux capacitor.

as far as batteries go, nimh is a much more user friendly type of cell when compared to lipo. Sure the charging hazards are there on anything but there is also a discharge hazard with lipo's. It doesn't bother me any but it does make some people shy away.
