I’ve been trying to find a nitro and there all out of stock. I’ve been looking at kysho road nitro rc cars like the gt4 Renault and the camaro and there all out of stock. Losi barely carries any nitro rc anymore, Hpi no longer makes a road car and I can’t find any of their nitro rc cars for sale, any other company is all out of stock except for traxxas(I will never buy traxxas nitro rc) my hobby store where I live carries nothing nitro they don’t even sell fuel or glow plug igniters or anything that has to do with nitro it’s all electric. As a kid I remember going to hobby stores with my one grandfather and seeing nitro rc stuff everywhere and now it’s all gone. All the hobby stores near me shut down except for hobby town. I feel nitro is dead and it sucks. I don’t find the same enjoyment ripping my vorteks around as I did my old t maxx classic.

Is it a good idea to buy used nitro road cars? It’s hard to know how the previous owner took care of it so it feels sketchy. They could have not broken in the motor right(if at all) or ran it way to lean and it could have a crap ton of problems. But maybe I could go that route. As long as the motor isn’t trashed I can fix anything else that’s wrong with it. Maybe I should just go 1/6 scale electric and get a kraton or red cat shredder or something. I can’t find any nitro rc I like and the ones I do are either out of stock or just simply don’t exist anymore. I love cars I’m a gear head and a nitro rc car is a cheaper alternative to getting a real project car since a real project car is out of my budget. Sadly it seems like I’m not gonna be able to get one.

There are many other options. garage sales.estate sale swap meets.. and other places to buy sure they wont be nib but you can fix anything(as said)..

I am not up on the road cars as much as off road but I see that HPI has an off road truggy in stock at Absolute Hobbyz.

Also, the Losi Buggy and Truggy are slated to be in stock on July 21st at AMain, so just a few weeks away.

I am new to the nitro RC hobby but am really enjoying it the past 9 months . Best of luck finding something to get you into nitro.

Nitro isnt dead although it has definitely taken a back seat to the whole brushless/LiPo scene and the back order issue is across the whole spectrum of RC from the pandemic crap. Not sure exactly what kind of On-road Nitro you are looking for but I found some non-traxxas on roads that are still in stock. Theyre more expensive than the typical HPI 1/10 scale kits and theyre not RTR but thats because they are pro level racing kits.

If you decide to go electric then you may want to consider these, as they are pretty insane :)

I sure hope the hobby shops in my country will keep stocking nitro fuel and stuff since I'm planning on keeping my old Nanda BD8 running for the forseeable future. Yes, a brushless buggy will be more reliable and easier to live with and will probably outrun it, but them nitro cars have a certain charm to them that you just don't get with an electric car. Nitro may not be as fast or as responsive as a brushless car, but it feels faster than it is because of the noise and overall more "violent" nature of a nitro engine.

Nitro cars seem to still be somewhat relevant here in Norway. The biggest hobbyshop in Norway, Elefun, is still selling several brands of nitro cars and fuel, aftermarket engines and parts for them. There seems to still be hope for nitro in my country.

Nitro is not dead, it's just a symptom across the entire RC world right now - lack of supply chain coupled with huge demand.

Nitro aint dead brotha. Someone new always buying a new rig. I got me a Traxxas Nitro Slash. I'm still learning. I also bash a 3s Arrma Senton. Just influence your friends to join the hobby. Its super fun in person, nothing like videos.

History repeats itself - Nitro is coming back, jump in and be on the cutting edge.

It definitely is having a renaissance of sorts, it's starting to gain some traction in the drag racing scene, seeing more and more nitro rigs, and people saying they want to build them.

The Kyosho USA-1 nitro monster truck is set to be released...and then there's this ad by HPI that says it all :D
