Anyone ever try a Vapor Steam Cleaner on their rig? I just bought one through E-Bay for the house. I'm thinking this will make short work of cleaning a nitro rig too...

Low pressure, high heat, very low moisture content, vapor cleaning - seems just the thing I need!!

I'll post back with my results...

Looks like something that would work great on tires, rims and the plastics. I'm not to sure if I would want to get around the bearrings though.

Let me know how it works out!

I just got a new tool today too ;)

My digital caliper came in. Ill be posting a review/tool tip shortly.

According to all the literature and FAQ's I've read so far...these things don't generate enough pressure to cause probs with bearings. Something like 65 psi TOPS. It's not at all like the high pressure power washers at the local car wash rack (something like 1,900 psi).

My local bike shop uses them on bikes (read, BEARINGS and seals all over the place)...same precautions with bike bearings and such - no problems with using them on bikes. I'll follow up as soon as I get this toy.

Watcha gonna use the digital caliper for?

Keep me posted! my #1 concern is the residual moisture if any.

I'm going to use the calipers for shock tuning/rebuilding, turnbuckle lengths and ride height adjustments. For the most part, it seems like no on-road car drivers should be without one. Just for the couple of places you can use them to get .01 mm accuracy! I even thought about using them for the pillow ball adjustments on the maxx as well.

My preliminary on this thing has proven to be GREAT! The only BAD thing was waiting the month and a half for HarborFreight to get them to me. They were on back order. Considerring the price, I understand why. 20$ for a digital metric/ase 6inch caliper is darn good!

Forgot about your "road rig"...perfect application for setting/tuning suspension.

As for residual moisture...these "steam vapor" cleaners supposedly only have about 6% moisture content in the "vapor"...leaving very little or no moisture on the cleaned surface. Combine that with average humidity here in Colorado down below double digits - shouldn't be a problem at all!

Follow up: Works GREAT!
This machine works great!

It CAN leave a little moisture on the components - but you need to have a rag handy anyways...and it's SO much better than tearing the vehicle down for a full cleaning. It cuts through that Nitro/Dirt sludge and muck like it's nothing. I used it on the whole rig including the wheels and tires. It's amazing...my GS Storm is clean after sitting in it's own grime for nearly 3 months.

I found the best combo was to blast the dirty area with the steam, wipe away any big chunks and then blow it all nice, clean and dry with the air compressor.

It also worked GREAT on all other kinds of things in the house and out in the garage. Car seats, biking components, engine compartment, show, toilet...all sparkling clean and sanitized too.

This baby cleans with AUTHORITY!
