OK so I got my battery for the RC18. The guy at the LHS told me that I should never completely discharge it. I thought that was only for Lipo's though. Any info?

He doesn't know what he's talking about. NiMh batteries are similar to NiCads that most people are familiar with. The difference between the two is that NiMh do not have the memory effect. NiCads want to be charged and fully discharged. NiMh don't care.

I don't believe you should dead short them, but you can run them down until they don't have great punch. Just make sure you cycle them regularly or they'll fade away.
LiPo's can't be run down or they'll turn volatile.

 I figured that, since I've run quite a few NIMH AA's down to zero and they perk back up (though I need a new charger-- this one gets over 150 degrees during charging) after charging. I just ran the pack down after about 10 minutes to almost zero then freaked out because it wasn't moving. Thanks for resting my fears.

About cooling the batteries-- do you have to let them cool before charging?

Also, cycle times. Can I only charge/discharge it 2 times per day?

yes, they need to be back to ambient temperature before you charge 'em up again. I read somewhere once that you shouldn't cycle a Nimh MORE than twice within 24 hours.

Oh... well today alone I must have cycled it 3 or 4 times. Guess I should let it go then hehe :\ Why does it decrease battery life by charging/discharging more than twice?
