Well, parts have been trickling in, and with the radio SNAFU I decided to tear the Wraith down completely and do some work on it.
Kinda good I did, apparently I'm rough on equipment.
This should hold until I can get new covers. New housings don't come with covers either, LAME! (I also beveled the bottom edges of the diff covers to help keep them from hanging up and this happening again. Honestly, I don't see the plastic fantastic housings lasting with what I put them through with the pro4 power, but we'll see.)
I also built my servo winch tonight, start by tearing the servo apart, taking out the large main gear and grinding down the stop post (I tried removing mine, wasn't budging)
The, remove all the electronics
Once again, I turned to Al at HeyOK performance for my winch controller. Great guy to deal with, and will do custom work if needed (more on that later)
Solder the winch control leads to the motor and stuff everything back in the servo case
I then tapped the hole in the splined gear to 3mm so I could use a longer bolt I have on hand
I also made my own winch drum (bolt is just to hold it together until the epoxy dries)
I started waterproofing everything tonight also, getting ready for winter time play as well as SORRCA events next year
I've had a servo in a glass of water for over two weeks, no special treatment other than coating the board and pot with this. I didn't even use the O rings on re-assembly, using nothing but this stuff. It was recommended by the owner of Holmes Hobbies (not this specific brand, but silicone
conformal coating in general)
Did the RX
The ESC
The sensor board on the pro4
and everything else, just forgot to take pics along the way when I got to the servos. I'll post more when I get it back together, and figure out where I'm going to mount my new home made winch.
