If it's used but not for a while do I have to break it in again?

Nope I suggest you put a few drops of after run in it before trying to start it just pull it a few times with the oil in there to lube up the parts.. Also how long has it been sitting. You may want to reseal it...X

It was just oiled, so that shouldn't be a problem but I'm not sure how long its been sitting

nitrom3, i'm so sorry but i will have to break this news to you, your rc is worthless now, if you don't run your rc's for over a month, it's just as good as junk, just send them my way and i will gladly do you a favor of getting rid of it =devil for the rest of you peeps, if you have rc's that have been sitting around for over a month, just send them my way and i will get rid of them for you (i'm such a nice guy)

i'm looking up the word oxymoron in the dictionary right now :hehe:

i started up cars that were sitting for 2+ years. id say go ahead and disassemble the engine clean it out with denatured alcohol and lube it up with some after run oil or wd-40.

My T has been sitting more than a month but I know she'll burble to life within the first 5 minutes as usual.. Cool car man

I would run it rich for the first tank or two. The reason, if you got it used, you dont know what fuel and percentage the person used before. Find the factory break in settings and run it like that for a tank or 2 then retune.

So yes, you may have to kinda break it in again.

Thanx everyone, and I got Trinity 30%(they were out of 20% and didn't have O'donnel) so I think fully breaking it in again would be a good idea.

Most engines are made to run 20%. If you want a quick boost, bump up. I suggest you add a thin shim under the head though to prevent breaking something.

Novice, 10% is fine, but if you want to compete, go up to 20%. I would run rich again if you do. The higher percentage, the more heat the engine produces. The more heat the engine produces, the more the internal parts expand. Allowing the parts to expand slowly by running rich and slowly leaning it out will extend the life of your mill.

Isn't it that all high performance engines are meant to take 30%. I run 30% in my cv-r. The instructions say it's okay.

I think most RTR engines might be able to take 25% max.

You know, i've never seen 10%. 20% is the lowest i've seen.

Isn

post it in the forsale/trade section and you might get someone who is interested. You will want to include a bit more info also.
