Hi all.

I'm a newbie to the hobby,I'm looking to get something for my 15 year old son for is birthday.
Would like something ready to run out the box and something with spares are available for it.
Would prefer brushless as I did have some a few years ago.
Maybe something quite nippy.
Got a budget of about £200 .

What would you recommend for a starter car/buggy in that price range.

I know you said you want a RTR, but the Traxxas Slash kit is right around your price range, and is an easy peasy kit to assemble. No soldering involved. And lots and lots of upgrades out there for it.

The reason I suggest this is, he's going to have to work on any RC he gets. And building one makes maintenece a breeze, because after you build it, you know everything about it.

Well, I just remembered Traxxas stuff was recently banned over there for having asbestos in the slipper pads.

Over here the kit is $269 USD.

I'm not sure. Wasn't so much. Generic motor wasn't very much. ESC from a kit breaker. Tires I already had from another rig, can't remember. Radio & RX were $35 from a kit breaker. Out of the box, the Gorgon is fine. It's fun!

Try the maverick from hpi, not to expensive but you will need a battery and charger, start with 2s and add he learns he can upgrade to the 3s, but honestly so far 2s is plenty.

Brushless Typhon Grom goes 50 and takes a beating. I forgot how much I paid. But welcome! I do like the Gorgon.
