Hey guys, I've been reading the forums for a week or so now and I finally purchased a Nitro car. Tell me what you guys think, did I get a good deal?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220111625835&rd=1&rd=1

Is there anything off hand you guys would recommend to improve on the car? I have a rookie question when it comes to radios and how they work. I got a Futaba 3PM. Will that work with the reciever that is coming with the car if I get the right crystal? I've also seen servos listing a frequency on some websites, how does that work? I was under the impression that the Tx and the Rx were the only things that had to mesh and the servos just got instructions from the Rx. Am I wrong there? Thanks ahead of time!

The 3PM is either 75mhz or 2.4gHz radio. I don't know what the Airtronics is, but could be 75mhz. If they are both 75mhz FM, then yes, you could match crystals and you'd be fine.....

The 3PM is not a 2.4, it's not a module radio so it's not even an option for it. To answer your question it's a bit hard to say. The listing doesn't say if the rx is 75mHz FM (which I assume your 3PM is). Sometime you can get crystal sets and use different branded rx's with tx's but it doesn't always work. Usually aftermarket rx's like Novaks are marked which brand they work with and you'll see more than one listed but FME with Airtronics, they usually only work with Airtronics.

I'll have to look into getting a reciever then as well. Anything you guys would recommend upgrading?

I got my info from Futaba's website, and here it has the 3PM in 2.4gHz http://www.gpmd.com/cgi-bin/wgpinf100p?&I=FUTK2020.

BryGuy,
I am also mostly off-road. But there are a few things that are common. Make sure you have a good fuel filter in place, that your air filter is clean and well-oiled, and that your fuel tank is clean. You have plenty of everything else, that's for sure!!

Thanks! One of the first things I plan on doing when I get the car is running to the local shop and getting a new air filter and fuel filter.
