Quick set of questions not about how to....

I have only ever run electric rcs so I know NOTHING About fuel rcs.

I am looking at getting the new losi gas MT. But I have the chance to get the nitro version at a great price and darn near perfect condition with extras. Do you think I should get the nitro version to learn or just get the gas version directly and learn with that...

The fact that the new losi is "new ( first time on market)" does not worry me. I'm just wondering if I should learn on a more "common motor" version ( easier to get help from friends) or go gas and figure it out as I go maybe limiting the number of people who can help.

Your thoughts?

The gas engines are actually more common than the nitro or fuel engines. The gas engines are found in everything from chainsaws to weed eaters. The nitro engines are usually only found in hobby type vehicles.

Gas engines are by far easier to get tuned and use than a nitro, IMO.

If you have friends and people that can help, a first time nitro isn't scary and can be fun.

If it were me and I could swing it, I'd go for both.

Thanks for the reply... I wish I could buy both.... I just wish I could make a better informed decision. I work alot and time is limited which is why I like electrics but I want a new challenge (not frustration) so that's why I'm torn. I have heard by several people that gas is better because less tinkering so thats more time to use it... But with nitro I can turn to about 3-4 friends for help if needed.

I am very comfortable with gas motor repairs so I think gas will be okay but its seems that this new losi gas version ( even hpi savage version) has some 5b owners hesitant... Makes me worry about maybe wasting nearly $1000.00 (US) on either truck.

If you have friends as you mentioned to help with nitro, go ahead and get the Nitro-powered monster truck. The Savage X is a decent truck and has been around for a while and it has lots of upgrades. The stock 4.6 has a lot of power and is easy to tune and holds a tune well once broken in.

How close are you to a hobby store? If you nearest HS is a fair drive where as your gas station is just around the corner, I'd go with a gasser. But for me when I need to run nitro I go once and get a bunch or at least enough to last me a few months, the closest HS for me is 2.5hrs drive one way.

Thanks for all the input ... I'm going with the Gas Losi Lst xxl 2. It seems from everyone i spoke with I will get more run time and less wrench time with a gas version.

Once I get the truck I start a video Series on "First-timer Fuellies". Also, Since it was suggested not to make any major changes while learning. I have thought of my first upgrade that only alters the appearance... a simple sticker "project" (not even a real project at that ). Pictures pulled from losi site so i can show you my "Changes"...LOL

I am waiting on the release of the XXL2 love the idea of the gas mix engine. However I bet in performance comparison the Nitro prob is going to have more RPM's and be a little quicker. I am still going to try both the Savage Octane and the Losi XXL2

Well still waiting....my local hobby shop has the hpi octane in but no word on losi truck yet....
