Hey guys, I too am new to this. I've always had electrics, but I got this OFNA Ultra LX-1 for a steal, so I thought I would give it a try. Of course knowing nothing, I missed a few things that might have turned me away from the deal considering new rtr prices. Anyway, I have a few plugs the local shop told me to use, and the original. Buggy runs AWESOME!. I mean it runs real fast and strong, and seems to be in tune from what I have learned so far. However, it will only start using the igniter, even when hot. I mean I can pull and pull and nothing. But half way, if that, through the first pull with the igniter on and BUUUZZZZZZ off we roll. Sup wit dat lol??? I tried a couple diff plugs with same result. I know my one way is messed up on the pull start but that wont do it. Any suggestions? I really like the the way the nitro runs and smells and sounds real, but the staring issue is a drag. Thanks in advance for any help. Oh and btw, far as I know and according to the local shop, it's totally stock and very low run time.

Can you specify what you mean? The ignitor is the glow plug ignitor that you stick on the glow plug to heat it up when you start the car. You have to use the glow ignitior to start the car everytime you want to start it even when the engine is warm. The engine will only flood itself without the glow plug ignitor in place to ignite the glow plug for the initial start. Once the engine is running, you don't need the glow ignitor on anymore. It is normal for the engine to only start when the glow ignitor is on the glow plug.

yeah the only time you dont need the igniter to start your rig is if you have an ez-start system that heats up the plug when you push the start button..
so yeh everytimg you start it you need the igniter on it... you can't just pull the pull start and have it start....

Oh.....lol well the duh to me lol! My neighbor has a Traxxas sport and after about 5 minutes of running he doesn't use his igniter anymore. Just attaches his starting thing to the rear end and after about 5 seconds of spinning the motor it fires. I've had a few people describe them as similar to a deisel, and I own one, so naturally I poorly assumed it would fire when hot. So....SWEET! Now I just need to fix my one way on the starter so it stops killing the motor and then I'm in like Flint! Thanks guys!!

yea your neighbor has what is called an EZ start. Traxxas is the only company that has it. Even though it appears as if it isn't lighting the glow plug when he starts it, it really is. That blue wire that goes onto his glow plug ignites the glow plug when he presses the button on the starter wand. You learn something new every day lol. What is wrong with your one way bearing maybe we can further help you?

Well, it feels clanky and un smooth on the retract. Also and totally random, I hear a clank then the motor instantly stops running. Guy at the local shop said it felt funny and is probably due to long term storage. He also said it might free up or it might not. I plan on using a starter box so is there a way I can just eliminate it all together or replace it with a more reliable backup?
