Cool that you made a rc site. But why when there is RCNT.?? there is no other site around like this one..any way good luck with your site

I often find I'm a burtally honest person. For that reason, I hope you take it with a grain of salt when I say this straight out. Sites like these have come and gone. I can't even count the number of times someone has pointed me a link to an empty RC forum.

Truth be told (that's how I roll), good RC info can't be found on the Internet. Good RC info can only be found in real life with real people who also have real RC's. Spend a season or two at an RC race track and you'll be able to write a book of things no one told you about online.

Your site is setup better than most. If you can get a good solid group of guys in there and you can index it properly with the search engines, maybe in a couple of years, you too can pay out the ass to support your very own RC community (It's like Sea Monkeys but better!!).

I hope I didn't hurt your feelings.

Bigfreak said a lot in his post.
We wish you the best of luck and must complement you on making a clean site. To be humble, I remember when this site has less members and posts then yours does. Never know, we may be looking at the next RCU.

Keep up the good work and let us know how it goes.

...i'm looking for ways i can improve. Also looking for content. Please help thanks.

As a web developer I am going to offer a few. I've got a site of my own that I'm proceeding with because it's a bit different than most of these RC sites.

By "different," I mean this: when you visit many RC sites, they are set up pretty much like RCNT: site based on a discussion forum with supplementary features such as tips and tricks, articles, and galleries.

There are HUNDREDS of these. All run by similar software, with a templated "skin," but underneath - they are all basically the same.

What makes sites like RCNT, RCZ, and RC tech stand out beyond the others?

ORIGINAL CONTENT. Much of what is presented on the three sites mentioned above is composed by original authors or has an original source. On the other few hundred, the content is basically STOLEN. Copied and pasted from some original source without credit to the original author. Not everyone knows this, but somehow I think they get the feeling, as those sites are just not popular, and won't be.

Truth be told ... good RC info can't be found on the Internet. Good RC info can only be found in real life with real people who also have real RC's. Spend a season or two at an RC race track and you'll be able to write a book of things no one told you about online.

There is some truth to this and some of it is false. There is actually a LOT of good RC info on the 'net. But like bigfreak says in the second sentence, most of it is brought here by those who spend time trackside. THIS is where the original content comes from, people actively participating in the hobby with a unique contribution. The real problem is sorting out . . which is which. :D

So IMO, don't make the focus of your site a message board. It's been done. Over and over and over. :D My site is not all that unique, but it's a different approach. (I'm me if you want to see.) Browse what's out there, then try to find some unique way to present your site. And whatever you do, don't rip off stuff from other sites. Understand why the copyright laws really do appy to YOU. Even if you get away with it, it will lead you in a downward spiral and no one will be interested.
