New Picco Max .21

Wanted to get some updates on your Piccos! I am still dealing with the tuning and have about 8 tanks through it. The LHS did not have any VP so I am trying out the Nitrotane 20% and it seems ok. I still have a off the bottom slight bog, it seems slow off the line. I am running a Spektrum S6040 for the throttle, it is rated at .08 so the response is pretty quick. The slipper is tightened all the way so it should not be slipping at all but it seems like it does.

How is your engine temp? If your boggin off of the start, perhaps your LSN is just a tad bit rich? With these high quality .21s and above, even with a 8 tanks, at times takes a bit more to truly break them as their so darn tight / super high compression from the factory. I generally call break in 3/4 - 1 galloon.

I wouldn't try a performance tune till at least tank 10-12 as stated In the previous post the ofna/piccos are tight as hell .my picco .26 is just starting to loosen after 1.5 gallons but still needs a preheat.
The .28 I'm running seemed to be ready after roughly 12 tanks but I did take my time with it

My temps are in the 250ish range, I will just keep running with the current tune and just be patient, plenty of smoke out the exhaust from bottom to top end.:)

So I got to tank 12 yesterday and am just startng to notice that the motor is starting to loosen up. You guys were right, these motors are super tight.

Awesome.... !! You can definetely 'feel' the difference - those things just really open up once the piston and sleeve recognize they need to work together for life as one.

Cheers,

So now that those of you who have this motor, what are your after break in settings?

@chaos2767...LMFAO!!! LOVE that avatar.

That is a great avatar ...

U ask an interesting question re engine set points. I don't have that engine, but I'd think whoever gives their feedback, they will pretty much need to have the exact temp, humidity, air press, elevation as u do plus use the same glow plugs and fuel that you use.

Yep that's why I recommend these engines to anyone running the maxx or revo. They are extremely impressive. I just finished tank 7 on my buddies revo now sporting its new Picco .21. Once you see about 1 gallon or so through it they seat in nicely. I am at 8 gallon mark on mine and really no loss in compression that is noticed, and I give mine heck every run.

I'm at 3/4 gal through the motor now and it is making a lot of difference in power finally! The motor is starting to pull a lot harder. I'm used to breaking in 3.3's and it is usually really quick within a couple hrs of run time so I am not used to having to go through a gal of fuel before a motor starts to loosin. It takes a long time to go through a gal! Lol
