new P/S????

hey everyone i think that i might need a new P/S here are my symptoms: doesn't idle, piston slides up through the sleeve more than it's suppose to, and very hard to start ans once started the idle must be at about 1/2 throttle. please help. :shrug: :help:

ohh yeah and if i do need a new P/S i was thinking of trying to resize the sleeve before i spend the $40(can't hurt to try. right??)

That seems to be correct. How much fuel have you had through it? Did you run it lean? If the answers are: alot & yes, then thats how the cookie crumbles.

dont really know since i got it used and i don't really run it lean a lot of smoke is always comeing out. Also what do you think about that resizeing???

Resleeving costs about $20 from either ray a racing or osrocket, 2 of the more reputable names in the business. Don't forget to factor in the possible cost of a new con rod and see if it makes sense to resleeve or just get a new engine. Which engine is this?

the engine is a HPI .15FE. is the resizing worth the money? and can you give me a link to both of the sites where it can be done?

If its the .15fe, Id dump the whole mill and get a good O.s. mill. Them .15fe are really big lemon mills. I know I hated mine. Couldnt get that out of My rs4 fast enough. I've heard that a 10e os carb really brings them to life, but they can be hard to come buy and by the time ya did that, and got it pinched for a few bucks more ya could have a nice mill. Check out the Fantom Fr12's on www.rushrc.com I've heard good things about them mills as well.

A mill is another word for an engine. I'd spend the money on a new engine as well if I were you. It sounds like it's dead and you'd be surprised at the power a decent OS will give you.

Rush doesn't appear to carry fantom engines though...

lol..That was a mistype..My bad.. Rush sells Fantom, unless he recently quit. Ill see if I can find the link

Edit: Weird. I see he doesn't have them listed anymore. I know he used to because when I was looking to get one for my Rs4 I almost ordered one from him. Ask him and I'm sure he can still get them.
Update: I just found out from Bruce he dont deal with Fantoms anymore because the parts are to hard to find.. If Bruce can't find them, its not a good sign.
