My old OWB was stuffed, so I fitted a new one, was great to start with but as soon as it got some oil on it it's started slipping, still better than the old one but not as good as it should be.
Starting to think it's not the OWB's fault.

Could it be the fuel I'm using has too much oil? - I use NitroX 25% with 16% oil & the motor is a TRX3.3.
Would switching to, say, 12% oil reduce the amount of oil getting on the OWB or is there something else I can do?

I'd check my starter shaft for wear, this would lead to leaks and poor OWB engagement, not only because of the oil leak but because of the shaft itself having worn to a smaller diameter.

It's not very common but i've seen it happen.

Motor is brand spankers & the shaft is mint!
OWB is new, pullstart is new.

Everything new yet it still slips on a cold start!

Take it out and clean it with alcohol. Blow it dry and run it that way. I never oiled a OWB after cleaning it and they lasted a long time between cleanings.

I'd try another shaft if you have one laying around. Doesn't matter how much oil
Is on it. A new owb shouldn't slipping. at least that's what iv gathered.

Damn thing fixed itself, musta just been that time of the month for it.
Out last night & it was mint, I didn't even pull it out & clean it.
I was running pig rich last time we were out coz it was real cold & I couldn't nail the tune down, so I left it rich to be safe - musta just been so rich it was oiling up the bearing too much.

Dunno, don't care, it's working!
