new nitro addiction-- 1/8 scale buggys

all i can say is damn.....this thing flys....it overshoots all the jumps at my local BMX track with barely any effort...my first attempt at some huge 25' triples i hit it with alot of speed...cuz i didnt want to case the front side of the jump, and overshot the whole set! jumps that my .21 maxx would barely make it over and almsot never land and keep goin the buggy was overshootin (i know overshootin jumps is bad but daym it looks bad ass and is fun!) and landing from 10 foot airs..had a few nasty front end colisions from sky'ing into the rock hard dirt and didnt have any damage other than a cracked bumper (one nose dive was so hard it knocked my pipe off of its coupler and triped my servo saver). my friend with a savage was like probably feelin funny hittin the jumps with me cuz i was gettin so much more airtime. anyways..this is my 1st buggy..an XTM x-terminator deluxe..and I'm hooked..i want another one..thinkin bout a Storm...hehe

storms rock, the only thing i moded on mine was an extra large bumper so that the wheels wouldnt be the first thing to hit the wall/curb/concrete block that i always hit

Does your lhs stock parts for the Storm? If not, Where do you mailorder them from and how long does it take to get what you want?

I've heard the storm has the gearbox shock tower tab weakness also..i easily adressed that problem on my x-terminator and never even have a thought when i land on the wing now..is the storm also easily modified to strenghthen the wing mount/shock tower? i jsut used some 90 degree aluminum i found in the garage and cut some braces for the gearbox...from what i hear they do make aftermarket braces..but if i can id rather make them myself...thx for any info.

Nitromaniac, how do you get the tail back on with the engine installed? The one screw the the heatsink from the engine that get's in the way? The main reason I sold my Storm was bad wingstay design imo.

i also broke the wing/shock stay very easy my 2nd time out with my buggy...although it was a high speed roll it was basically uneventful..but after doing the very simple bulkhead fix (on my x-terminator its diff place than that storm fix link above) i drive and crash the buggy harder than my modded maxx, and absolutly am hooked on my buggy...humbolt, if you dont have another buggy after you sold the storm you gota go get another one! hehe

Humbolt,,, you had a storm pro,I have an ARR modified! I dont know how much difference this makes pertaining to your question, but while making all these mods I realized that the wing was a design flaw that could and would bite me in the ass later on, I tap drilled new holes in the wingstay mount and used a bigger screw with a nut instead of just the threaded screw, this makes it much easier to remove, as far as the lower diff case screw that threads into the rear diff cover, well thats another bitch entirely, but thats one you very rarely would need to remove anyway!
If that was the main reason you sold your storm, I am truly sorry!I have flipped several times since this fix and never had another problem.
