Well I just got my Cow RC package, looks like the XXL will have a nice lube job when it's put back together. I can't wait to use this stuff, I took an old junk bearing at my LHS and cleaned it then lubed it today and it spins better than a new one.

Shipping didn't take as long as I expected,

I got it all swapped over to the new chassis, and I will be tearing my bearings down tomorrow for a good cleaning and then try the Cow RC Moo-Slick. I also found out that I cracked my rx in the crash, I have it glued back together, hopefully it holds and doesn't act up on me.

Got my bearing done, wow this Cow RC stuff is no joke. I had a couple bearing that were locked up, after pulling the rubber seal and spraying some cleaner on it while working it back and forth they broke free but were still a little rough, a quick blast with the Moo-Slick and they smoothed out. I wouldn't trust these bearing if I was a racer, but as a basher they are still fine and kept me running, I will still be getting few spare bearings though. Over all I'm pretty impressed with the Cow RC stuff, Heath has awesome customer service and will email you right away if anything comes up.

This is how my rx was,

Now it's all ready to go and try to jump that street again....maybe I'll bring a ramp this time.

I was already out backflipping it off of a few trees, first time trying backflips with it so I had a few "rough" landings. The first try I was from a good ways away so I just drove the truck up the tree hoping for the best being as I hadn't gone to look at it, after a couple tries I was doing pretty good.

Once you smoke your stock mill, I would highly suggest going with the lrp .30 spec 2. I just finished the break in and I am still tuning it, this thing blows the 454 out of the water! I will post some videos once I get my new camera.

Yea, I was looking at it. I am reading up on the .30 and the .32 from LRP, it's only a $5 difference sooooo I may as well get the bigger one. I tweaked something in the wreck though, my exhaust isn't lining up just right, not sure if it's the header or what.

I broke a front carrier the other day, who has the better aluminum ones? Dynamite or Hot Racing? Right now I'm waiting on a stock replacement and have the broken one JB Welded.

I was under the impression that the stock 454 is a rebadged LRP .28 spec2 or spec 3 something like that and was a very good engine. Was I misinformed? Not having much experience with after market Big blocks I dont have any points of comparision atm.

I read somewhere that the 454 was the LRP with a different carb. Anyone have any opinions on Dynamite or Hot Racing aluminum components?

I have the 454 in my XXL and I love that motor. I dont suspect it will "smoke" it for many many more gallons to come. I do have an OS .30VG I got off of Joey but I havent had a chance to use it yet as I dont plan on replacing my my 454 until its dead and buried....maybe not even then if I ever get around to building my Savage X SS I'll probably use that motor in there and either keep the K4.6 as a spare or maybe sell it in favor of another 454 or maybe OS in the future.

As for Dynamite I love just about anything they make. I've only had a couple of their aluminum pieces but they seem to be pretty strong. Definitely stronger than crapegy. Like wise as far as Hot Racing goes I have several parts from them and so far I've not had any complaints about them either. The thing I love about HR...at least so far...is their prices are cheaper than most but their products seem to be at least decent quality. I havent been using HR parts very long though so I dont want to jump right out there and say that they are great and you wont regret buying them like I would do for dynamite parts but so far so good with HR.

I feel now as though I hadn't reached the full potential of my old 454. Perhaps because I had been the second, possibly third owner and had no record of how many gallons were run through it. I do have to say that I love Losi's 3.4 engine in my Ten-T, and with the new LRP .30 in the LST, I struggle to keep all 4 wheels planted on the ground.

I think I may be subconsciously trying to shorten the life of my engine, I know I am rich on bottom and may be slightly lean on the top but I can't get myself to get the tune right. It runs like a bat out of hell but it just doesn't have the low end snap that it should, I guess I really want the LRP .32 lol. I need to stock up on some bearings, I fixed my steering block and now I have a bearing that's beyond repair.

Mudslinger, throw a video up of that .30

Well, I don't know what was going on with it yesterday but my tune was all over and I mean all over. Is would go from rich bogging so bad that it left oil stains on my street then it would lean out so much it want to flip from the power and the temps would shoot up. I threw it in the garage and pulled the engine, it will be getting a full tear down then cleaned and sealed. The carb is another PITA, I have been fighting my LSN since I got it. It is so tight that I have to fight to make any adjustments, I thought I had fixed it after I pulled it and lubed the o-ring with Green Slime but it ended up getting hard to turn after about a tank. I also noticed my outer CB bearing was in pieces, never noticed while running it, so I will be doing the 3 bearing mod. I'm thinking about upgrading to some ceramic engine bearings while I have it apart, not decided yet. I really just want to get it back together and run it but I am going to end up doing a full teardown and clean it, I just know it.

Defiantly sounds like an air leak somewhere. Seal her up tight and hope for the best. What is the 3 bearing mod? I haven't heard of that yet.

It's where you put a 3rd bearing in the CB, it's supposed to relieve some stress on the bearings. Here is a link to a thread about it, I've read mixed stories about it working on the XXL because the CB needs a special sized bearing for the additional one. I'll give it a shot and let you know if it works and if it is a different size than what is in the thread I linked.

Well, it seems to work fine on the XXL. I had read some where that the 5x13x4 bearing wouldn't fit the XXL's CB, it fit fine on mine. I am just waiting on the Ofna kit and I will be able to throw it back together, and see how it holds up. I will do the tear down and cleaning this weekend, I also have to work on my Rustler so I'm hoping to knock them out all at once. Who knows, I may get crazy and work on all of my rigs being as none of then are in running order right now.

I tore the engine and carb down last night and cleaned every piece of them, I then sealed them with the green slime and copper RTV. I'm still waiting on the Ofna kit, it didn't ship with my LHS' last order, so while I'm waiting I'll pull and seal the primer on the tank.
