Sorry for another NOOB question but the glow stater I just purchased says to charge it 12-16 hrs (first charge). But I am anxious to break in my engine and I tried starting it after about 3 hrs of charging with no luck. Must I charge it 12-16 hrs before it will work?

Thanx in advance!

Id check the glow plug itself. Try another one and see if it works on that. If not, looks like your going to have to charge it a little longer. (I get in the same boat sometimes as well, and usually 3 hours will at least get a charge for a lil bit)

or if your really anxious and you have a few more $$ in your wallet. Go back to the hobby shop and get a D-Cell ignitor. Just put a regular D battery in it and your good to go. It will only Last about 10-15 starts but its instant while the other is charging.

And yes, let the new ignitor charge 12-16 hours

yeah i agree the d cell ignitors are good for a situation like this.

Has anyone ever bought a DOA iginiter?

I've charger it well over 16hrs and I still can't get the engine to start!

remove your glow plug and stick it in the ignitor. look at the coil. if its glowing bright red to orange then both are good, if it isnt on or the other is bad, i would try a new glow plug befor i returned the ignitor. you will need the extra glow plug eventualy anyway..

it could just be the engine is flooded. I used to get soooooo frustrated because i could never get my damn engines started and it was just that I was OVER OVER priming. You can take the plug out, turn the ride upside down and turn the engine over to pump some of the fuel out, or disconnect the fuel line and try to turn it over for a lil while, but that is most likely the problem if it will not start and you follow what beason said.

Thanx for the suggestions...

Both plug and iginiter are good. I wasn't priming it correctly, I think, who knows???

I got her started and I'm currently breaking her in.

Thanx again.
