Ok - I said screw it and went out and bought what I felt to be a decent digital cam.

For whatever reason, I didnt find enough reasons to buy a mini-dv camcorder, BUT, I wanted digital, so I went with a digital 8. Its big enough that I dont shake it like a madman and small enough to not be an inconvenience. USB, IEEE, Memory Card enabled, night shot, image stabilization, a remote, and a handful of other cool options.

I just want to know (from all you video buff's out there) what you think of this model.

Sony DCRTRV350 Here

For what I paid I could have gotten a mini-dv, but again, they were too small for my liking and didnt seem to give me anything more for what I wanted to spend.

Feedback????

It's a very good cam. I have the model under yours and I'm very happy with it. I especially love the night shot.

Chris, if you're talking about a Sony cam, please use the term iLink, not 1394 or firewire. Sheesh.

I have the DCR-TR7000. It's a bit older and doesn't have a fold out LCD, but it has everything else you mentioned, except for the mem stick and USB. Just about all the footage in my videos, except for the onboard stuff, was shot with my TR7K. D8 is very nice, since it is basicly a DAT video recorder and the media is dirt cheap sompared to some of the other formats (mem stick, etc).

The only problem I have encountered with D8 is compatability. A person I know (business client) had taped some stuff on a rented D8 cam and needed to dump it to a computer, but he no longer had the cam it was filmed with. So, I let him borrow mine and it would not replay the tape correctly. I don't know if my cam (Sony) tapes at a different speed or what, but it would not play his tape correctly. Sont to Sony might be fine, but I have no idea what brand he used originally.

Good choice BTW, now you need Adobe Premiere for some trick edits.

Whitt...

I have a SONY DCR TRV8, and it rocks. You will not be disappointed with your purchase. Being a SONY man, I am kind of biased towards their products...BUT they have never, and I mean never failed to meet my expectations (which are always pretty damn high).

Error...FU and your iLink. Firewire is just fine.=devil

LMAO,

A rose by any other name.......

is still an iLink. :whack:

Jeeeez these cam got cheap in a hurry. I bought my VHS for like $700 like 4 years ago. Dig cams were like 1000+ at the time.

I guess I don't have to pack my camcorder to bashfest. Christian has the hook up.
