i am looking in to buying a new nitro car. it will be a buggy or a savage. i am not good with working with the engine but i can fix everything else that could go wrong. it will mostly be used for urban bashing. i want to keep it under $500. i am not going to be racing. i also want to get a kit. is the savage a monster truck? i have a rush evo and it breaks all of the time.

For bashing, the HPI Savage is king.

For off road racing, Buggies are #1.

The Savage is an awsome truck right out of the box.

Very durable.

The Rush and the HPI MT are both decent stadium trucks, but they don't have the durability of the Savage...

You can get the Savage SS kit and a decent radio and servos and you'll be bashing in no time...

If ya go with a savage, which is a monster truck, I suggest getting the Savage SS 4.6, because it comes with HD drivetrain components, and a high performance engine and pipe, plus it is a kit.

If you want a buggy, its gunna be hard to stay under 500 with a kit. You can get a decent buggy for under 500 but those are RTR ones. Most buggy kits alone are 400+ and thats without an engine/radio etc...

Kits:

Savage SS 4.6:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJUP1&P=ML $413

Cheap, but decent radio (3-channel if you want reverse) http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCXM4**&P=0 $76

Steering servo: $40 http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUZ89&P=ML

Buggy kit:
Hyper 7 TQ Sport- $215 from Bruce at RushRC or $335 combo deal for the TQ Sport w/ hyper .21 8-port pullstart engine
Then, you'd need a radio and steering servo...

For both of those you're above $500 since you don't have radio equipment already (or you could save some money by using your rush evo radio system, then buy a spare reciever for $30, and servos for $50)

IMO, you'd be better off w/ a RTR for under $500.
I reccomend these:

Savage 25RTR spec. edition: $520 (but towerhobbies has a $30 off coupon code to bring you down to below $500)

Savage 25 RTR regular edition: $400

Hyper 7 PBS RTR- $409 from Bruce at www.rushrc.com
