didn't win the servo, oh well. I'll try again another day.

it doesn't sound like a bad idea bro, as long as it works is all that matters lol.

One of my friends just sold his 4tec on ebay, and he's going to be buying my tmaxx, so I'll be getting a steering servo and hopefully a battery and charger soon. I'm going to go with the batter from holmes that was in the first couple pages, the 3s version. What should I do for a charger, I know nothing about charging lipo.

if you can afford a nice quality charger get a Venom Pro imo....if you only want to spend $20 you can buy a cheap charger/balancer off the bay....just my opinion but those holmes lipo's are just the hong kongs rewrapped and labled, you can get two packs of the same thing for the same price as one....just my two pennies worth.

Looks like I can get a Venom Pro for around $130 + Shipping, sounds good to me.

Well, I would have about $200 for a steering servo and battery, left over cash (if any)goes for dig servo, switches, ect., however far I can stretch it.

I do not want to skimp on the steering servo, I do want a good battery, I have no problem with off brand vs. big name so if the hong kongs are worth the $$ then I'd buy 2 of them. But if not then what do you guys think I should go for, I want something with 2000 mah at least, I like the runtime and extra umpf..lol

i think you will like the venom pro, i love mine.....i'll pm you a couple links for lipo's, if they suck and swell after a while its no biggy cuz they didnt cost hardly anything! id much rather have a super cheap lipo go bad than a super expensive lipo go bad wich i have had 3 very expensive lipos die and every low cost lipo's I've ran are still holding up....

awesome, I'm off to work now, I'll check out the links when I get back.

If I was to go with an expensive battery I'm liking the 3yr warranty option on the max amps batteries. maybe get something like this

I've had three max amps lipos', two-2s and one 3s, all three swelled in less than a month, and the fourth i gave to h8z2luze and it swelled in like a week or two....I'm not saying to not go with them but i dont care if they are waranteed or not, I'm not gonna wast time trying to get all the red tape finished to get a lipo replaced that will prolly just swell again lol...they are the only brand of lipo i have had that has had anything go wrong and they cost way way more...

Hong Kongs sound like a good plan, I agree with you on not having to worry with all the "red tape" and If I get 2 of them I can run longer! Works for me.

would this be overkill? HS-7950TG

Not at all, it would be bad a$$, and a excelent choice for your steering servo, Having a good strong steering servo is a key componet to having a good crawler. the HS-7955 would do you just fine as well if you want to save a little, and if you want to save a little more the Hobbico CS-170 would save you a little more and has as the same specs as the older version of the HS-7995 which is the HS-5995.

yep, like Curtis said you want a powerful servo, thats 403 wich will be real nice, the hobbico cs170 only runs around 90 bucks and is 333 wich is still a bad ass amount of tq imo.

well, I bought a servo. I paid for it today. Soon I should have a Jr 8711.

hell yeah! good servo for sure, you wont be disapointed.

Just a small update, almost have the servo mount done and I got my "hong kong" batteries in today. Down to needing a charger, esc, bec, some deans plugs and a body.

finally getting down to just a few details huh? we needs pics eddie!

I'll try to get a pic with the axle plate and servo mount on it. I made the servo mount from a peice of angle, I think i might re-do it though, get a mount like the link I put on before.
