Welcome to the site.

Oil the piston and sleeve. Pull piston out, lower through the top of the motor and hook it on the motor. Holding it through the side of the motor, drop the sleeve through the top gently, and let the piston slide in. There may be a marker on the block and an indent in the sleeve so it won't spin around.

From there slide the starter shaft and the backplate lining the notch on the start shaft to the stud on the crank shaft. Screw in the backplate and plop on the cooling head.

Also put the carb and an air filter on immediately. These cars are highly allergic to dust and dirt.

my only problem is really the orientation of the piston. dumb move, didnt pay attention when taking it out cause i assumed it was like the newer one i have where there is a clear way to identiffy. the video explains eveything mutch better.

Not sure if this will help with sleeve orientation, rebuilding mine right now also. I can pop the pull start and stuff back off if you need a pic of the inside also

there is a little pin on the sleeve. thing is the new pistons have a cut and a hole in the comrod that face the front. this one all it has is a hole in the piston itself.
no hole in he rod, no skirt in the piston. every single bit of info i find is on the newer tipe engines, have yet to see one of these in a video or foto or anything. this thing is like 30years old.

Freaking hell. 3 weeks searching for this nonstop and now i just tipe "nitro rc piston orientation" into google and this
shows up. did that countless times allready.
