Hey all,
A few years ago I was in the attic and found a small box with a 1970's corvette body on top. I looked inside and found what was left of an old RC car that looked older than me.
Just today I did a search for Latrax (which was on the body and parts) and turned up a thread on this forum(that was about it). Maybe I can find some help here.
The car seems to be in good shape and the drive motor looks almost like new. Bad part is: there were no batteries. Only wires coming from the switch and reciever.
I know a thing or two about electronics so I hooked it up and ran some tests.
I tried out the drive motor but it only went in reverse. My guess is that there is a burned out component on the speed controller. (I think it was a transistor but I can't remember)
The front servo looks a bit raddy but otherwise works fine.
The transmitter is huge! The size of the antenna amazes me. It has a container that holds 8 AA batteries inside. Unfortuneatly when I found it, it still had batteries inside which were heavily corroded. luckily the corrosion did not get into the circuitry inside so that is fine. The transmitter works perfectly as far as I can tell.
I've been wanting to fix it up but I don't know much about RC cars and the few places I've been too didn't even know such a car existed
So I've got a few questions.
1) Where can I find batteries.
2) Where can I find a compatible speed controller?
3) Where can I find a new body for it? (The corvette body is pretty beat up)
Any ideas or advice on how to fix this thing up would be appreciated also.
