Hey guys, so there's a really nice retro Thunder Tiger TS4N up for sale for £150. Is it worth it, and I need some basic tips on Nitro, I am new to it. Should I go down this route? I'm 15 and have experience with electric RC's, I just am desperate for a nitro!

I would not. The car isnt on the Thunder tiger site. One variation was out in 2013. This leads me to believe its discontinued.

If you can find parts, it may be worth it. If it is discontinued, parts will be dry and the ones you will find are expensive!

That's true, and yes this is an old one. I just really have a need for a retro RC for some reason. Won't rag it, I'll look after it, this won't be bashed around. But I'm on the fence whether it's worth it? Real difficult one. What doyou think? Thank you :))
Here are some photos for context by the way, it's just had new belts :)

What is your budget?
Slightly under $400.00 can get you a new 1/8 rtr buggy!..😎
The used ones are usually ran into the ground or over priced or both an can't find parts for!

That's true! I think the worry is the parts. I badly want something old, but mint really. I've got newer RC's for bashing. It's just a shame parts are so expensive. Can I just ask, when do things need replacing? More so the engine, as I won't be driving it hard or much at all really. Thank you cbaker65 :)

Engines are pretty much universal ,however to replace belts ,gears ,a-arms or other chassy parts isn't an Thunder tiger
I think closed their doors on land models as they had a huge sale back quite a few years ago on their stuff an I dont
see their products on market anymore ,but some times ,you can find stuff through E-Bay or other private places to find
parts ,that would be up to you to take that risk ,Thunder tiger did produce some awesome great stuff though an was
a name brand product!..!..👍

Thank you for that, really helpful! Interesting as I've heard a lot about them. Shame they closed up. I guess, for me, it's just the need for something retro? I love retro stuff and me and my dad go to a lot of car shows. I'm just wondering, if I'm not tracking it, will I need spares? A new thing for me as I've never owned a nitro. I'm wondering, if I can get him down to £125, maybe then I've got some money for some spares if needed? Ahh it's a difficult one :) Thank you for the advice man I really appreciate it. I just love cars and nitro's are different :D

Welcome in @Fredr3x , I respect the fact that you came into this forum asking questions first before you purchase. So many guys buy something and then wonder why they can't find the parts for it.
The most important thing about RCs , YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN AVAILABLE SOURCE FOR PARTS".
You mentioned you won't bash it hard, which is cool but it only takes a second to hit a rock, or a bad turn into something whether you bash it hard or not.
No parts mean expensive paper weight.
If you are that interested in vintage then I would buy it and park it on the shelf and then purchase something close to it to run.

Hi Tunedpipe, thank you and to be honest I am not experienced with Nitro's! It's such a shame there aren't spares or many vintage RC's about anymore. I went to Lydden hill the other day and seeing all the vintage Group B rally cars just set it off for me! I love vintage cars and it's just a shame :)

Then I would highly recommend, if you want to get into nitro then I would buy a decent RTR rig and do some research for parts before you buy.
I would also find somebody with nitro experience and talk with them. Hobby shops are the best places in the world for that.
I don't care for nitro much honestly so I don't have much experience with them but I have ran them. I can't breathe like I used too so I stay away from them.
Have fun with it and search around the forum here for lots of info.

Thanks Tunedpipe, maybe I am trying to go too deep too quickly. Just love engines and right now electric is annoying me! My charger or batteries are playing up and it's really annoying me. Thanks for the advice, whatever's next will be my 6th RC, that went quick :p I'll have a look and talk to my local hobby shop. Thank you :)

My pleasure @Fredr3x , everybody in here will be willing to guide you along the way. Don't be afraid to ask questions and just so you know, we love pics...:D
There are 4 or 5 guys really into the nitro so they will offer a ton of advice.

They seem more air robotic and 5g then land vehicles.

Pics?
What rcs do you have?

Is this car online or local? Do they have any other nitros?

Here are some off the top of my head.

This may be a good choice. Its kinda rare and it may last or it may not. Its not a touring car but is a head turner.

Hey @Chubaka, I have an FTX Kanyon, Tamiya TT-02 that I built, a Traxxas Slash 4x4 3S, a TRX-6 and a Kraton EXB with a 1650Kv Max6 Combo in it. All electric stuff and I love them all. I just get tired of it being all go but no noise and lack of character :) I would love something retro but I see if it isn't possible. Just want something to cherish and enjoy, not to beat up :)
