It's called the 20th Anniversary deal. Here's what it comes with:

Mobile Intel Pentium 4 at 2.66GHz

Microsoft Windows XP home edition

15" XGA TFT Display

512 MB DDR Sdram

40GB Hard drive

24x CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive

32MB DDR NVIDIA GeForceFX Go5200
AGP 4x Graphics Card

PRICE TAG $999

Or do u recommend a Desktop instead?

I would think that it's a good deal.
sounds good.
I have an older Toshiba lap top, and I love it. it has the docking station, that i plug my printer and dsl line too.
Not quite as fast. in reality, it's not half as fast, but it works for me.
good luck

For what your getting its a good deal.

If mobility is what your after then you wont go wrong.
As mentioned above, you will not get the same performance from a laptop that you get from the same setup in a desktop. If you plan on playing any of the new upper end games the Laptop wont cut it. If your just surfing, writing letters, keeping the check book and playing solitaire it may be the ticket.

If you need to take your computer with you or don't have the desk space needed for a desktop then go for it.

If you can afford it you may want to consider one of the wider screen versions of the Dell or Toshiba. I recently purchased a Toshiba P25 with the 17" screen, wifi, dvd+rw, etc. All I can say is that it's incredible what it will do. It has replaced the need for one of my desktops. The down side is that it is 9 lbs. What you are looking at is a good buy if you want mobility.

There's a really quick answer to this simple question - does the computer need to be mobile? If it's just going to sit there on the desk then dont even think about getting a laptop - laptops are harder and much more expensive to fix and limited and expensive to upgrade.

If you need the computer to be mobile then the one you've detailed sounds to be a pretty good deal.

Thanx for the replies. I'm going with a desk top. I like the mobility of it, but I'm not going to take it with me maybe once or twice a year. So the Desktop sounds better for upgrades and more things come with it.
