Need help. How to remove ...

I need help / advice how to remove this from the chassis. By the way, it is Hyper 7 PCR. When I turn the screw at the bottom, the post will turn as well. I have tried to grab the post with a piece cloth over it so that I will not scratch the thing. Still no good.

Your advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

grab the middle of the posts with plyers or vice grips, the larger diameter sections are where bearings ride so you can't grab there, but the narrow section isnt important.

I really don't want to scratch it unless there is no other way. It is late now, I will try use rubber band to give it more grab tomorrow morning and see if that will work.

Use a lighter, or even a soldering iron to heat the head of the screw for a few minutes, to loosen up the locktite thats most likely holding it in... HEAT will loosen anything up... Works for me everytime.

If youy don't have a soldering gun then use a hair dryer. heat the head of the screw up and that puppy will come off in no time.

there are rubber mouthed plyers but you would have to go by them just for this..

edit: if you have a vise you could clamp the shaft in there with the softer pads of the vise and try it that way..

i say do a combination of a few hints. first wrap a rubber band around the middle of the shaft, then heat the screw up. unless they used tons of red thread lock that should pop the screws loose.

in this hobby you will grow to love loctite just make sure you use blue if you ever want to take said part back apart in the future..

cut a couple of small wooden blocks and then use them with vice grips. You can get a great deal of pressure without leaving scars. Run the grain crosswise to the rod, or the blocks will split.

Ofna used red loctite when they assemble the buggy. It was PITA to remove it.

I had soldering iron somewhere that I couldn't find it whenever I needed it. So what I did was wrap the chassis with alum foil and let it sit on stove for 2 minutes at mid heat. The post came right off!

For me I only have blue loctite in my tool box. Thanks alot guys. :smoke:

Those bastards!!

For future reference, I use the rubber jar openers. (looks like bad bologna).
Then just heat the spot that your removing.
Heating the whole thing can be hard to work with.
