Getting ready to buy my first nitro mt or do I want a truggy. Just started to read up on things seems to me revo3.3 or savage x are both good trucks. Can any one tell me why to get one and not the other. Or what truggy to get I have around $500 to spend please help

Savage is a MT, not a truggy, but I can say that for the $430-ish ou would spend on it, it's a great truck. It will take a beating and come back for more.

Which one is faster revo 3.3 or savage

I want some thing that rips fast that I can jump. Which one has better susp? Faster? More fun all rounder? Or would I b better off with a truggy and if so which one

The Revo is probably more what you want then. Savage is more durable by reputation. Truggies are awesome but are usually a lot more expensive for both start up and repair.

i would go for the revo to as a good all rounder ....you can get great speeds out of it ...and is a pretty durable truck to ;) ...and the revo suspension is one of the best IMO

Awesome thanks for the replies. What spare parts should I get right off th bat. I have no clue. What should b my first upgrade to make it more durable. Should I get extra gears of any sort In other words what is goin to go first on the revo. I just want to b prepared thanks for the replies I'll check back it a bit

nothing should "go" or break. as long as you break it in correctly and maintain it the right way you wont need to replace anything, i have had mine for two years now and only replaced a spur gear once cause i somehow ended up upside down after a full speed run without the body on (my stupid fault)

you may wanna do some aluminum parts like the little throttle arm that moves the carb slide and some small stuff but dont do alll aluminum (there are threads on here that tell you why) you'll probably kill your first body so just leave the stock one on there till your good at driving then you can get a new pretty one

Different driving styles means everybody breaks different parts. Bet bet is when you do start breaking parts, buy replacement parts in pairs. Fry a spur gear, buy two, etc. That will save you on shipping too, if you buy online. Shipping at most online retailers will start at $5, and that $5 will usually get you a a few parts, as long as they aren't too big or heavy.

Don't forget to search this site and ask questions through the entire break-in process. Nitro engines can be very tricky, you want to start out with as much knowledge as possible. Check the stickies at the top of the "nitro rc talk forum". I would say the HPI savage big block is gonna be an easier break-in for a beginner.

Thanks for the info definitly goin for the revo3.3. Just watching u tube vids listening to the 3.3 rip and then grab another gear rip it somemore it's a clear cut choice for me. When I order it I'll get a couple spur gears and some nitro. Can't wait. Anything else I should order ? Ur input is greatly appreciated

get half a dozen glow plugs while your their... they dont cost much and you never know when you'll need one

Get at least 3 O.S. LC3 plugs, 20% nitro fuel and a spare clutch. The clutches are known for broken springs, causing the engine to stall at idle. For option parts, I would get a really good single steering servo (at least 150 oz/inches minimum) and save the two stock ones as spares for throttle duty. I personally do not like EZ-start so I took mine home with a pullstart and glow ignitor, Plus a forward only conversion kit because I don't need reverse. Those two hop-ups take a good bit of weight off the truck. Add a THS pipe/manifold combo and you'll see how fast a 3.3 can really go.
