Are you running XP Home, XP Pro, or an XP upgrade from 98. They behave differently and SP2 seems to affect them differently also. I'm thinking your problem might have something to do with the firewall install with SP2. If turning that off doesn't help, It's a matter of you having 'administrator' rights to change, upgrade or adjust things. I ran into that after doing the SP2 upgrade on XP Home, but it was for something not important enough for me to bother with.
Everything else seems to be running fine.

yeah i have had probs with sp2 it screws with the admin rights on my comp and it made a few prog run messed up

It is xp home. i did find it.

It was the fire wall it was not even promting me that it was blocking the sites.all is good now but what a pain in the ass. I couldn't even get in to used shoes . com lol. now that was pissing me off

I'd be curious as to the flight potential of a computer. Please keep us in the loop of that one.

It's forward velocity is never quite equal to its' gravitational attraction to the earth.
Hence, it's rarely fun to watch since it's almost straight down once it clears the window sill. The landings, however, are always cool to see.

I agree....that would be my guess.

Also...try this website. This chick knows her stuff. I highly recommend tuning into her radio talk show. You would be surprised how much you can learn by listening to it. You can find out when shes on the air in your city at http://www.komando.com
