ok, i am running Windows XP Home Edition. i just went to hook up my HP multifunction machine[HP PSC 500](print, scan, copy, fax), but guess what, the software is only for Windows 98 and Windows 95 not for windows XP(2000). It will only let me print, wont let me scan. Also it prints in shades of pink when it does print. i use to have this hooked up to my old computer... Windows 98 and it also use to print with shades of pink. so if anyone could help me get the right software so i can hook this thing up to my computer, that would be great. AS far as the printing in shades of pink goes, i bought brand new ink cartridges, checked all the settings on my computer, everything. I cleaned off the tabs and stuff where the cartridges go in. Even what i set it to print in black and white, it still prints in pink..

thanks,

The PSC 500 is an older printer and unfortunately there wasn't a lot of them manufactured. For this reason there isn't an full service driver available from HP. You may want to look on drivers.com for an outlaw driver but don't be sad if it doesn't work properly.

As for the pink print. I have no idea. When you print black, that printer utilizes the black cartridge. You may want to look and see if you have somehow managed to reversed the two cartridges.

as soon as i hooked up the printer, it recognized that there was a new device hooked up and installed the hardware. but today i just tried to scan a newspaper atricle to send to a friend, but it wouldnt scan the picture, said something like "COmputer could not connect to PC. See Customer Care" but it prints and makes copies in pink.. ahhh.

thanks for the help

The Driver only supports the printing function of the PSC. You will not be able to use the extended functionality under Win XP.

This is unfortunate but true.
I have been looking for a rouge driver but haven't had any success. Being in the business I try to keep a library of drivers for just this reason.

hey guys i got good news. went on HP site.. looked around and it turns out that XP already has a driver to uplod pic from a digital camera and from a scanner. Go to start, then my pictures, then Get Pictures from camera or scanner. u click on that, and it connects to either the camera, if its on or the scanner if its on. I'm really starting to like this windows XP because i dont have to download any drivers.... but i can't play games like Comand and Conquer Red Alert.. i loved that game..

thanks guys,
